Not only tax money - who is paying for the electricity used to recharge these? Ulitmately, the population served by the electricity suppliers in the surveyed zones .... because the cost is passed on to the subscribers!

Noted. Thanks for posting, Evelyn. Straight out of the last Sci-Fi movie I watched! I, too, am concerned about who is paying for this "stolen electricity from power cables & other sources." And all the promotion of how great this will be for "future wars" makes me cringe. Why, oh why can't we have some technological uses for peaceful purposes?! After all, as others have stated: these are our tax dollars...and now our electricity, too. Maybe they'll figure out a way to power them with solar energy.....But to what purpose?

Lois - you hit the nail right on the head .... "humankind" are the only animals that use their creativity & skills to work out "better" (read - "more effective") ways of destroying .... people, other creatures, nature ...
And ways of making bigger, longer term profites when they adapt war materials for "peaceful purposes" (thinking of Agent Orange by Monsanto - which was further developed into Round Up) ... :(
