A Challenge to Emergency Services and Journalists About What Is Happening in Puerto Rico (VIDEO)

India Colon is reporting from Puerto Rico, having visited all round the island - and found the emergency relief corps located in San Juan hotels with electricity, wifi, water, hot food. She's furious - with reason. The people are doing things alone.

What she doesn't realise is that this situation is par for the course in such disaster situations.

Ask the people of Haiti ...

The relief services wait for directives, the journalists don't want to leave their comfort zones if they can help it ... and the first repairs & rehabilitation is done to the locations where the incomers are going to be lodged - they must be made as comfortable as possible "so they can do their work" ... Maybe if they were less comfortable, they might be more motivated to get things moving themselves, to communicate the urgency, to see (and show) what the people are doing to help themselves ...

Unacceptable but doesn't surprise me. I lived in FL 04 when we had 3 major hurricanes come over my house. I was spared the first two even though on the 2nd one my neighbors house was totally destroyed. My roof was ruined on the 3rd hurricane and I lost food on all 3 hurricanes and had to figure it all out myself.

My husband had died only 10 months prior and was left with medical bills and was cheated out of the life insurance we had paid into, finding out that two former employees of a major insurance company had scammed the insurance company itself. They were pocketing the premium money that was sent in and had stolen the policies so nothing was underwrote.

I had a detective call me to inform us that this had happened, but as my husband already had cancer the company wouldn't insure us, nor did they legally have to as they too were scammed. These people went to jail but left me with two children still living at home to raise alone - and then 3 hurricanes. One would think I was a candidate for some help......but I got one can of bug spray and 2 gallons of water. That is it.

Dandelion, that's a terrible series of experiences to have to go through - Bad enough to undergo what nature releases ...
But inhumanity of the greedy ones - makes me sick.
