Noted, thanks Felicita. I believe this bill would be moot even it passed. There is no way Pediatricians will voilate patient/doctor confidentialality, and the state would have no way to get the medical records needed to make an assessment. Congress is a lame duck on this one. The state would have to have a very strong case to go into Family Court to seek a court order for doctors to turn over their medical records to the state. It violates current privacy laws

I live in the UK and can see a few pluses but a massive amount of minuses with this bill. Both of my kids are borderline dyslexic and, when I had my elder son evaluated, they wanted to give him a drug - Ritalin (methylphenidate) to control it. I read up on the drug and found it to be very dangerous and refused it. This drug has been dispensed all around the US and, to a lesser extent, in the UK. We are now hearing terrible stories about the side effects and the fact that this drug often makes the condition worse and causes many other problems. Now, the question is, do you have the right to refuse this drug if it is your child and what happens next if you do or don't? It is this control and lack of definition that makes these acts so dangerous. An example of good practice would be to offer ante & post natal classes on child raising to young mothers and first time mums. Someone to talk to if you are worried is also helpful but being sure that this person won't then snatch the baby away is essential. Such bills must be drafted with very great care but, personally, it reminds me of 1984 - total control of the population by the government!

It's great to see the government's hiring of Nazis in the aftermath of WWII is working so well for them, seeing as the Nazis implemented similar programs as a precursor to their social pogroms. All the more reason to oppose this.

I know of a British landlord who says she has been developing a 'curriculum' for parenting. She works for the State of NH and in my opinion it is very frightening that one person might have such weight in proposing national standards. Seeing the way that woman is, i shudder to think how the world will be if her such 'curriculum' comes into being.

this is madness, insanity. this is no longer government of the people, by the people, for the people. this is government of the chosen few, by the chosen few, for the chosen few. i am almost at a loss for words. it is by human arrogance that these kind of things are thinkable let alone possible. who am i to say that any one of you is not a proper parent? who are you to say that i am not a proper parent? the worst part of all this is, "WE" the people, did it to ourselves. we voted for these people. so, what do we do now. well, we educate ourselves, we learn, we learn what is BS & what isn't. we stand tall, we do not give up. we read, we research. we stand together. we are all citizens of planet Earth.
