My home is passive solar. It was built by my husband and I back in the late eighties. I grow many plants and so we figured this was the most efficient way of doing it. We used double pain glass and double insulated, in between brick, as the foundation. It is a huge money saver in the winter. In the summer however because I can not afford the expensive heavy shading that goes on the inside of the glass, the house gets a bit warm if not hot!, I use less than 100 gals of heating oil per winter. I try not to run the air except only in the muggiest months.
