I'm sorry, did I read that right, "Gang-Rape was an Experiment"? I can't ever recall a gang rape as being an experiment...

yep, that's what was said. Tonight I hear on the news that the DPP said he admitted that he advised against the prosecution and jail term for the offenders, but some of them had been involved in a break and enter and he wanted a jail term for that!!!!!!!! Sadly, this was the second time that the young girl had been raped.

If people want to voice their displeasure about this case and how it was handled, write to the Queensland Attorney-General Kerry Shine or the Queensland Premier Anna Bligh.

The Prosecutor Need to Be Introduced to The Prison Experience Where Big Men From Abused Childhoods Get to Express Themselves by Exprimenting on Him.!
While I Believe That Childhood Experimentation and Teen Sex Should Not Be Prosecuted This is Nothing of the Sort.
I know That Aboriginal Cultures Have Different Practices But I Do Not See Any Tribal Leaders Supporting This Crime And I Do Feel That A Ten Year With a History of Sufferring Child Rape Could Not Give Valid Consent To Be Gang Raped.!
How Does This Fool Think Breaking and Entering is a Greater crime than Child Rape.!

Noted. Thanks Chrissy :) The new Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd is appalled and disgusted, like every other normal human being, and he has overturned the decision not to imprison them, also, he has extended some close off time so the case can be reassessed by the Queensland Attorney General Kerry Shine. Many members of Parliment are demanding the resignation of District Court Judge Sarah Bradley.

I hope to get the address off you Leone as I intend to write to the Attorney General, and the Queensland Premier re: these disgusting so and so's who violated this little girl's rights. She has been raped twice.
Two years ago and she was only 8 at the time. It sends a shocking message Aboroginals get away with
so much, these 9 need to have their private parts removed permantly or handed over to the tribal law.
You don't hurt children. If this was to happen to a white child all hell would have broken loose. It was not a white child but ALL HELL STILL SHOULD HAVE BROKEN LOOSE. EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET BEHIND THIS AND SHOUT AND YELL AND WRITE TO THE PREMIER OF QUEENSLAND AND THE PREMIER OF AUSTRALIA NOW.

This is just a tip of the ice-Berge! Tthe department of child safety and the Australian government has known for a long time the conditions of indigenous Australians living in remote areas. Women and children are mainly at the brunt of the constant abuse and exposure to unemployment, drugs, petrol sniffing sold to children by western adults, alcohol abuse, rape and incest and break down of culture and traditional values and land rights. The x-prime minister Howard was part of a National Crisis Campaign' that saw Military sent to the Northern Territory to bring order and Justice. This was just a ploy to grab more land for mining purposes! The indigenous Australians continue to live in poor conditions still experiencing the above atrocities.

Sue, I truly believe that Elder Law should be allowed. In the few places that is ... very unofficially ... it works and works well. And believe me, the justice handed out ensures that they don't re-offend. Sadly, we "whites" who know better, won't allow it.

What you have said about Howards fray into the NT is totally about mining and a land grab. Watched a very good program on 4 Corners, where they spoke to he Elders and they wanted to know what was going to happen to their assets ... they had houses, which they were buying , they had a medical centre ... fitted out ... and they were being "taken.

This is sickening. For someone who should be fighting to protect people, he has failed miserably. I find it very hard to believe that a 10 year old girl, who has already been raped, would consent to sex, especially with multiple men in the same period of time. In this day and age, men like Mr. Carter should be sacked immediately.
