Thanks Chrissy. Thank you to all the people who put their lives on the line to protect us all and keep us safe from fire, anywhere in the world. Facing a bushfire is a horrifying prospect for me so they have my eternal thanks for their courageous actions, even though many will tell you that they are 'only doing their job'!!! THANK YOU. I personally believe that people who deliberately start bush fires need much harsher penalties and if a person/people die in a bushfire then the death penalty should apply as their are fewer more horrible ways of dying than being burned alive. Also for people to be putting, people, animals and property at risk like that they obviously have a severe mental problem and it is kinder to put them out of their misery and safer for the public and communities around them to be safe.

Samantha, I used to be with our local Brigade here, but because of internal disputes and personal attacks on me by a disgruntled ex-member, and then dad moving in with us, I resigned, along with our Secretary.

However, having said that, I was one of the officers and I loved doing what I did, even though it was hot, tiring, hard work and at the beginning, put my UN-fitness to the test! We had more than our fair share of complaints from the public ... mainly because we have legal right of access to their property and can take down fences, break locks, etc., and then there were those that complained that we were taking too long to get around to ding their preventative back burns, forgetting that we are all VOLUNTEERS~ !

Firefighters, EMT's, Police are heros. There may be the few within that do not behave appropriately but the majority put their lives on the line every time they perform their duties. Thank you all who have served or are serving in any of these capacities. You are appreciated by many more than those complainers.
Noted with thanks, Chrissy and with prayers for the safety of those fighting those fires.
