me too Maria, although as horrific as it is, i guess in some small way, one can understand how he felt ... to have found that this trusted stepson had sodomised his 8 year old daughter ... However, this is what the law is for.

Yeah, this sounds more like acting out the the belief in children-as-property. Disgusting.

Well, maybe the father went by the old cliche " An Eye for an Eye, A Tooth for a Tooth..."..sometimes people just snap when it has to do with their own small child"...I am not condoning this behavior, just stating my opinion...keeping the convo peaceful...Many blessings to the children..thank u Chrissy, this is noted...

I like you, FreeSpiritRunning do not condone this man's actions but understand the frustration and horror this man must have felt as he saw his 8 year child being injured in such a way. While in theory, there is a legal system in place, it repeatly fails the victims here in the US, especially when it comes to rapes and sodomy cases. Pleas, protests, and legal fights to change the laws are constantly thwarted by that same legal system. The fact that this young man was willing to call the police and report the "crime" against him will hopefully make him realize that he also commited a crime against an innocent child who at such a tender age does not have the physical or emotional maturity to heal as well as an adult or even a young adult. As a volunteer sexual assault crisis counselor, I hope this child will be given the counseling she will need and that all involved will be given the chance to heal.

Both of these are very sad and sick. If anyone has ever been sexual assulted then you can't feel the anger as I do for I have been there. I find this so heat breaking beyond disbelieve. This boy and the father should both be hung. This girl life is messed up for the rest of her life and will never have real trust in full love, for it takes away part of your life forever and it haunts you. thank you Chrissy N. noted

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF .............what a negative way to look at this child's future ..........i think you need to heal

why do people always look at the negative for the future of an abused child ...........some of their lives will end badly but others will grow up "HEALED" ............ i have spoken and worked with children and adults that have been abused and you know something those that do well have to at some point move on from it and if they dont their lives end sadly ...............

something is terribly wrong with parenting
skills or the human race as a whole.
Children are of no value to a large segment of our society and
other countries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since there are six billion of us it's a good guess
three billion are potentially capable of all this abusive behavior!!!!!!!!!!!

Lord.....We are a nutty species!!!!

Plant live.......Plant trees...................

Elgin....speak not of which you have not have experienced or of which you are in denial of......
Yes, many of us SURVIVORS do grow up HEALED with care to our triggers, but, not until after, MANY YEARS of pain, suffering, humility, therapy, medication, and spirituality. That only comes, after a victim finally does, if ever, speaks of the horrific crime. Sexual abuse on a child does much damage depending, now of how deep or how much damage is unique to each personality and emotional growth.

A child's mind can't even get the full concept of the trauma, until later in life.

i realise the father should probably not have done what he did. but i have to say that even though both should be brought before the law, i feel sorry for the father, but not the boy. fathers who stick around, let alone defend daughters, are in short supply, so if he goes to jail, the girl will be without a dad. he should have thought of that price, before taking revenge. the boy - would anyone miss him, seriously? the only regret is that he might learn to be an even better criminal and rapist during his time in jail.

The acts were abhorrant, my compassion and support go to all involved, especially the innocent child.
BUT, I think John Lennon said it best " Instant Karmas' gonna get you, gonna knock you right on the head".
Instinctively, ANY father would want justice meted out immediately. Some responsibility lies with the Police Dept for not keeping the YOUNG MAN in protective custody, considering the circumstances.
As a father of 2 daughters myself, I'll admit to considering the actions I would take in similar circumstances, and I'll also admit that this punk got off easy compared to my wildest imaginings. But that was in my head, not in an actual situation, Thank goodness.

oh okay ...............yeah DARLENE ........... ummmmmmmmmm the first part of your comment directed to me ......i am fortunate to not have experienced ........this kind of trauma ...............but to your second part or of which you are in denial of ......what my dear does that mean ..........PLEASE REFRAIN FROM DIRECTING PEOPLE NOT TO SPEAK .,.............

i am not an absolutist .............and i feel i said the same thing you said to begin with .....but since you are the "SURVIVOR" I guess i should defer to you .............and while i am at it i will notify the rest of the mental health providers that they should defer to you as well ..............so if thats the case i shouldn't even care in stopping sexual abuse or about these people ............this has never effected me in anyway .......

HOW VERY ARROGANT ...............

ya know I hate to say it....but I don't blame the guy, I probably would have done the same thing. As a rape victim, I know first hand how the justice system works....it doesn't. The man who raped me while I was 17, plead guilty and received therapy as his sentence. I was never notified that he took a plea bargain, it was a horrible experience with the system, which left me with NO faith for our justice system

Two wrongs make a right? Hardly.....With a little luck perhaps, both of them can share the same jail cell....

Well to all who want to pass judgement and think this man is on the same level as the rapist. You as the parent walk in a room and find your innocent flesh and blood being bent over and her trusted beloved BIG BROTHER on top of her tearing into her little bottom screaming and yelling for someone to save her. You tell me how you would not snap as a parent? HOW IS THAT FATHER EVER GOING TO GET THAT IMAGE OUT OF HIS HEAD!!! That boy is luck he is alive! A failed example to the boy, you say??? How sick is that? So thats his excuse for raping his 8 YEAR OLD SISTER!!!

In any other situation i would not condone this type of behaviour but i do not feel sorry for the 18 year old boy i believe he got what he deserved. I do however feel sorry for the father and daughter, now the man that raised and protected his daughter will be locked up and who can the daughter turn to now? especially in one of the worst times of her life when she will need him most. The legal system does not effectivly protect and vindicate the victims rather it seems to be on the offenders side always coming up with excuses for them, giving them theropy instead of and actual jail sentance. how are the offenders ever meant to learn that this type of behaviour is unacceptable whith the lenient senences that they recieve. So i can see where the father came from, if the legal system was just going to fail to serve justice to his daughter than he would have to take matters into his own hands, which he did though i dont exactly agree with the approach he took i can still see where he was coming from.
