It is said that we will always remember when we heard of this...our headmaster called a special evening assembly (at a prep/boarding school) and told us what had happened...and a television was wheeled into the room for us to see the news...I think we saw the TV twice at that school...the other occasion was for the funeral of Winston Churchill...

I was 12 when Kennedy was murdered.

Yes, I remember this day and what I was doing also. I was in 7th grade and the Mother Superior came over the intercom telling us about the assassination. Though I didn't understand it then...we all cried at the news of his death. It was a sad day for America, and the world. Thank You Chrissy for your 'daily' news.

I was just a kid, and the principal announced the death on the loudspeaker; we were immdiately sent home. My parents were on their way to Europe, and all overseas flights were grounded for 48 hours, so they got stuck in New Jersey! Thanks, Chrissy.

I too remember that day. I was 9 and we were living in Halifax, Nova Scotia and the whole school was sent home as a mark of respect.

Chrissy- you get around! I was in first grade- just turned six. We heard on the loudspeaker shortly before school ended. I was afraid walk home not realizing how far Texas was from upstate NY, I thought the killer might drive by and shoot us! It is probably my first memory of the world- something bigger than just my family and town. Quite a memory.

I was in junior high school, in biology class. The teacher was called out for a second and he came back to announce the news to us, fighting back tears rather unsuccessfully. The shock and sorrow were very strong. At home, we never watched TV so much; we watched constantly at that point, & cried a lot.
