Children of older fathers appear to perform less well in intelligence tests during infancy and childhood, while children with older mothers tended to gain higher scores in the same tests designed to measure the ability to think and reason.

A much needed area of research, but most of the information about older mother's is selective. Comparing the percentages of birth defects to those in a population of older mothers, rather then the population of all children born. This study sort of bursts the balloon of men fathering babies at any age.

The article didn't specify what age they consider to be "older." 45? or 70?
