Urge Congress to Take Strong Action on Global Warming

Congress is considering legislation that will jumpstart a clean energy economy, create millions of new clean-energy jobs, and protect our environment by reduce global warming pollution. The House Energy and Commerce Committee is debating this important legislation right now, but the oil and coal companies are trying to weaken or stop this legislation.

Congress needs to hear that you support strong climate and energy legislation. Send the sample letter below, or edit it with your own words to let your U.S. Representative know why solving global warming is important to YOU.

Subject: Vote YES on the American Clean Energy & Security Act of 2009

Dear [ Decision Maker ],

As a constituent and a supporter of Audubon, I urge you to support the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES).

The ACES bill would jumpstart a clean energy economy by creating millions of jobs, increasing energy efficiency and clean energy production, and improving our national security. It will also protect our environment and its wildlife by reducing global warming pollution.

In addition to supporting the ACES bill, I also urge you to support efforts to boost our use of renewable energy, to improve energy efficiency, and to protect wildlife and America's natural resources from the impacts of climate change.

President Obama has called on Congress to deliver a plan for America's economic future that begins with sound energy policy. It is now up to Congress to heed those words and pass comprehensive legislation that will heal both the economy and our planet. Please do what you can to ensure that the ACES bill is passed.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
