Maybe its not the amount of money alloted to social services but the way the bureaucracy is structured so that only 17 cents of every welfare dollar goes directly to the welfare recipient.
Side note-Most people on aid to dependent children drive better cars than I do. We also have a huge medical care system just for welfare children and mothers as well as Section 8 housing and food stamps. All these programs have their own poohbahs in their separate departments. So wasteful. Middle class to working class people who struggle get upset when they see all the benefits welfare hands out while taxpayers have to really struggle to keep a roof over their head.

Let's start with Govenor Schawarzenegger, and all U.S. Govenors, and all California Representatives and Senators, and all U.S. Representatives and Senators, by having THEM cancel their insurance and retirement packages we all slave for. I think the citizenry has given enough, it's their turn.
