Polar bears are stranded at sea. Walruses are falling victim to wolves and polar bears. Oil and gas development is expanding. And the Arctic seas are being opened to the possibility of tourism, shipping and perhaps even commercial-scale fishing.

Everyday thousands of tons of melting ice fall from Glaciers in the Arctic... and unless protections are implemented immediately as expressed in this article paraphrased below, then even the micro organisms and shrimps that polar bears and walrus's feed off living underneath the ice flows will disappear. We must pressure President Obama to sign the Law of the Sea Treaty and remain vigilant on all offshore oil and gas drilling!

Thank you so much Tom for this critical information.

Marilyn Heiman, U.S. Arctic Program director for the Pew Environment Group, said it is also important for the United States to ratify the Law of the Sea Treaty, an international agreement intended to define the rights and responsibilities of nations in their use of the world's oceans, in advance of any new industrial activity in the Arctic.

This really makes me sick! I hope & pray for a reversal of US isolationism when it comes to the Arctic and the Law of the Sea. However, humans are notoriously short sighted when it comes to anything that doesn't affect them personally!
