The U.S. Supreme Court will consider an argument lifting restrictions on corporate campaign contributions. Such a ruling would shake the very foundation of our republic, turning us from a government of "we the people" to "we the corporations."

Yes, this is not a futuristic nightmare, Tom. It's a present-day reality.

The obvious corporate take-over of America is disgusting, but largely unnoticed by the masses.

Sometimes, I could scream because of the manufactured/fracturing diversions that call the populace's attentions away from the truly worthwhile problems that need to be addressed.

These are the ploys that will dissolve our freedoms while we spent our energies on attacking each other.

You are spot-on Carole! Here is a must read New York Times editorial, A Threat to Fair Elections, on this subject.

Make no mistake about it. While the corporations' paid media and political sock puppets spout their talking points about a "government takeover" of health care, banking, the auto industry etc., behind the fearmongering smokescreens the corporations are plotting to complete their takeover of the American government itself! While the people are told to fear socialism, communism and fascism, the super-rich who run the corporations have been turning America into a plutocracy.

Well said Tom and Carole. If we the people do not demand an end to this there really will be nothing left of our country. As it is we are simply consumers to be manipulated and used - there is no longer fair play and corporate responsibility, only greed and grasping for power. And now we must consider that they own not only the elected representatives but the courts as well. Bye bye American freedoms.

The people should fiercely stand up for their rights, they know better between right and wrong. Politicians just care about their wealth.

Wish I could say I am suprised Tom But I don't lie well sooooo. The only solution is to take the money from the corporations..don't buy there stuff, their products, their stocks EVER! When they have no money lets see how much influence they have then.Take ur money and support local Mom and Pop BZ second hand yard sales .. Green technology..U get the idea... and Companies that give a damn. If U have a mutual fund tell the one in charge that U want ur funds supporting green healthy world building corporations...That will make all the difference in the world...If we must have Corporations that run the world ..Let us the consumer determine who and how.

Politicians have always been for sale, but until now they at least had the decency to pretend they were honest. This sort of thing will legalize bribery and put our government into the hands of corporate CEOs. Why not just skip all this election nonsense and put political offices on eBay?

Be afraid..very afraid...for now all our lives depend on speaking up..and out, and not sitting silent. If you aren't trying to fix this by protesting..and working for change...you have no right to complain.
