We've been cooling since at least 2002. The climate is changing, but it is the sun that is the ultimate factor and if we are very lucky the cooling won't last longer than the next 20 years.

"Prof. Henrik Svensmark, director of the Center for Sun-Climate Research at the Technical University of Denmark and, not surprisingly, knows a lot about the Sun and climate.

Permit me to share some of his thoughts. In a September 9th opinion titled, “While the Sun Sleeps”, Prof. Svensmark wrote, “Last week, the scientific team behind the SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) reported that the number of sunspot-free days suggest that solar activity is heading towards its lowest level in about 100 years.”

“Everything indicates that the Sun is moving into a hibernation-like state and the obvious question is whether it has any significance for us on Earth.” Good question, Professor! Particularly since the Sun is the sole source of heat for the Earth. When it takes a nap, everybody takes notice.

The professor then had a little professorial fun describing the Little Ice Age that occurred after a period of medieval warmth that had begun around 1000 AD. After 1300, however, it got a lot colder. Settlements in Greenland disappeared. The Thames froze over repeatedly. And here’s where we need to pay attention, there were “long periods of crop failure.” Between starvation and disease, it reduced the population of Europe by about a third.

“It is important to note that the Little Ice Age was a global event,” said Prof. Svensmark. It did not end until the mid-to-late 19th century; around 1850 in America. Do your math. That’s five centuries. As the Earth began to warm up and particularly in the last fifty years, “solar activity has been the highest since the medieval warmth of 1,000 years ago.”

Now, keep in mind that a couple of hundred, perhaps a thousand or more diplomats, scientists, and environmentalists are going to gather in Copenhagen for the single purpose of extending or expanding the Kyoto Protocols that are based on the assertion that the Earth is warming even though it is not.

Moreover, the IPCC will announce that, if the industrialized nations do not dramatically reduce the production of “greenhouse gases” (carbon dioxide), we are all doomed. In the United States, the Cap-and-Trade bill which passed the House by a slim margin will be up for consideration in the Senate. It is based on the global warming lie. It will drive up the cost of energy for all Americans and basically wreck the economy!

Like the witches in Macbeth, for years the IPCC has been stirring a cauldron of lies about global warming and the world’s media, intoxicated by the fumes rising from the pot, have never ceased from telling us that the Earth is warming when it is not.

The Sun, however, is not cooperating.

“It now appears that the Sun…is heading towards what is called ‘a grand minimum’ as we saw in the Little Ice Age,” says Prof. Svensmark.

“Indeed, global warming has stopped and cooling is beginning.” At a recent World Climate Conference in Geneva one of the participants predicted the cooling will likely continue through the next 10 to 20 years.

All those IPCC computer models that have been predicting global warming were wrong, are wrong, and will remain wrong for all time until the Earth actually begins to warm again.

If, however, the Earth slips into a new Ice Age and not just a "little" one, it will be several hundred thousand years before they are valid.

The Copenhagen conference is, like global warming, a hoax.

Sometime ago I wrote to Pres.Bush about emission control it had to do w/autos that should have 35 MPH, no speeding, emission control no global warming. I have 3 TU letters from him in reference to this & I am still watching the TV to see that autos have 35 MPH. Lets get the act together so that the autos can stop emission happening.

Global Warming is a hoax who needs to finally be put in the graveyard of scientific hoaxes.

The primary source of global warming is the SUN, which is not a steady state source of heat , but which has cycles like any other natural cycle, including the presence of absence of sunpots, or overall heat output.

If CO 2 and methane are actually major and dangerous greenhouse gases, then humanity has a major problem, since the average person releases methane 26 times a day, when cutting wind, and releases CO 2 EVERY TIME THEY BREATH.

As if the release of methane and CO 2 by every human on earth was not a big enough impact on the total methane and CO 2 release on the planet, then you would have to include the methane generated by every rotting dead plant on the planet, every bacteria on and under the planet, and the Earth itself, which releases methane from the deep ocean from time to time, or from deep earth cracks and crevices.

CO2 is also released by every breathing animal on earth, every fish into the water, every bacteria, and every protist and fungi, as they metabolize sugar.

Methane is also released by every animal on earth, since all animals cut wind in digestion, as do bacteria and fungi.

Global Warming is just a great tool to make Al Gore rich, since Al owns a carbon credit company, and will continue to add to his Billionaire status if carbon credits have to be used to survive Cap and Trade taxation.

That being said, I still believe in the benefits of reducing actual pollution, and recycling metals and toxic materials when possible.

I also believe in solar power, wind power, and other systems of power to end the dependancy on oil, since oil production and distillation does generate actual pollution in flouride release, as well as other tars and petroleum byproducts.

This Global warming hoax is a diversion from actually solving real threats to society, such as the pollution of the environment by estrogenic compounds which are destroying human and animal male fertility. The energy put in on fighting global warming also deverts from another footprint caused by world trade, which is ocean pollution from transport ships, the movement of dangerous alien life forms from place to place due to release of bilge water from ships, after traveling the world, and the threat of emerging viruses from moving food from third world countries to Europe and the United States.

Global warming is no joke as it refers to an increase in the average temperature on Earth, first detected in the 1980s. Some scientists believe that the increase in the Earth's average surface temperature--approximately 0.8o C during the 20th century--is caused primarily by increased emissions of several gases into the atmosphere, particularly carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor. These gases remain in the upper regions of the atmosphere, trapping heat emitted from the Earth, a phenomenon known as the greenhouse effect. By far, the most prevalent of the greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide, the molecule that is emitted naturally through the respiration of animals and humans. The vast bulk of carbon dioxide emissions, however, comes from the burning of fossil fuels such as oil, gasoline, and natural gas, resources that are consumed heavily in automobiles, industrial production, and the generation of energy that is used domestically. The demand for these fuels is so widespread that it would be virtually impossible to stop their production and use on a global level. It was thought that, instead, a drastic reduction in their use might help decrease the amount of emissions into the atmosphere. However, the prospect of curtailing economic development locally in order to reduce greenhouse gases worldwide came at a time when many developing nations were firmly committed to making great economic strides and it proved to be a bitter political pill that few nations were prepared to swallow. Jonathan, in nature there are enough carbon sinks to soak up the carbon that is released by living creatures, trees, the ocean and whatnot. They take carbon in and respirate oxygen. The problem is human industry is burning ancient stores of carbon, fossil fuels, AND deforesting, eliminating the ability of trees to soak up extra carbon. Therefore, there is an excess of carbon in the oceans and in the atmosphere - 385 parts per million and rising, as opposed to 275 ppm, which is what the level was through most of our history until the industrial revolution. Carbon and other greenhouse gases prevent heat from escaping the atmosphere, hence changing climate in ways that inpact people, plants and animals.

If it isn't Al Gore as the reason and cause behind the 'global warming hoax' it's the various known or unknown elite bankers and conspiracists who secretly control the world that are causing it. Blame, blame, blame, blame---all to avoid taking responsibility oneself for things.

I THINK we should all ignore the folks who just do not get , they do not matter anymore. If your on board you are on board. Lets put together the ideal climate bill that WE CHOOSE, and then healthy debate can re-start , WE need this bill done before copenhagen(and that should be no problem).
The world is waiting for us , and so are OUR fellow americans. Lets not forget that WE ARE IN CHARGE of OUR countries destiny , not some paid snook in Congress (these folks are on the way out, BELIEVE IT), never mind the biased media. WE ARE in the drivers seat, please RE-member that.

Al Gore, Maurice Strong, Obama’s involvement in Chicago Climate Exchange--the rest of the story

Good news to know that the truth will always out--even when you’re Barack Obama.

“Obama Years Ago Helped Fund Carbon Program He Is Now Pushing Through Congress” is a FOXNews story by Ed Barnes. In short, “While on the board of a Chicago-based charity, Barack Obama helped fund a carbon trading exchange that will likely play a critical role in the cap-and-trade carbon reduction program he is now trying to push through Congress as president.”

The charity was the Joyce Foundation on whose board of directors Obama served and which gave nearly $1.1 million in two separate grants that were “instrumental in developing and launching the privately-owned Chicago Climate Exchange, which now calls itself “North America’s only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide.”

And that’s only the beginning of this tawdry tale, Mr. Barnes.

The “privately-owned” Chicago Climate Exchange is heavily influenced by Obama cohorts Al Gore and Maurice Strong.

For years now Strong and Gore have been cashing in on that lucrative cottage industry known as man-made global warming.

Strong is on the board of directors of the Chicago Climate Exchange, Wikipedia-described as “the world’s first and North America’s only legally binding greenhouse gas emission registry reduction system for emission sources and offset projects in North America and Brazil.”

Gore, self-proclaimed Patron Saint of the Environment, buys his carbon off-sets from himself--the Generation Investment Management LLP, “an independent, private, owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C., of which he is both chairman and founding partner. The Generation Investment Management business has considerable influence over the major carbon credit trading firms that currently exist, including the Chicago Climate Exchange.

Strong, the silent partner, is a man whose name often draws a blank on the Washington cocktail circuit. Even though a former Secretary General of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (the much hyped Rio Earth Summit) and Under-Secretary General of the United Nations in the days of an Oil-for-Food beleaguered Kofi Annan, the Canadian born Strong is little known in the United States. That’s because he spends most of his time in China where he he has been working to make the communist country the world’s next superpower. The nondescript Strong, nonetheless is the big cheese in the underworld of climate change and is one of the main architects of the failing Kyoto Protocol.

Full credit for the expose on the business partnership of Strong and Gore in the cap-and-trade reduction scheme should go to the investigative acumen of the Executive Intelligence Review (EIR).

The tawdry tale of the top two global warming gurus in the business world goes all the way back to Earth Day, April 17, 1995 when the future author of “An Inconvenient Truth” travelled to Fall River, Massachusetts, to deliver a green sermon at the headquarters of Molten Metal Technology Inc. (MMTI). MMTI was a firm that proclaimed to have invented a process for recycling metals from waste. Gore praised the Molten Metal firm as a pioneer in the kind of innovative technology that can save the environment, and make money for investors at the same time.

“Gore left a few facts out of his speech that day,” wrote EIR. “First, the firm was run by Strong and a group of Gore intimates, including Peter Knight, the firm’s registered lobbyist, and Gore’s former top Senate aide.”

(Fast-forward to the present day and ask yourself why it is that every time someone picks up another Senate rock, another serpent comes slithering out).

“Second, the company had received more than $25 million in U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) research and development grants, but had failed to prove that the technology worked on a commercial scale. The company would go on to receive another $8 million in federal taxpayers’ cash, at that point, its only source of revenue.

“With Al Gore’s Earth Day as a Wall Street calling card, Molten Metal’s stock value soared to $35 a share, a range it maintained through October 1996. But along the way, DOE scientists had balked at further funding. When in March 1996, corporate officers concluded that the federal cash cow was about to run dry, they took action: Between that date and October 1996, seven corporate officers--including Maurice strong--sold off $15.3 million in personal shares in the company, at top market value. On Oct. 20, 1996--a Sunday--the company issued a press release, announcing for the first time, that DOE funding would be vastly scaled back, and reported the bad news on a conference call with stockbrokers.

“On Monday, the stock plunged by 49%, soon landing at $5 a share. By early 1997, furious stockholders had filed a class action suit against the company and its directors. Ironically, one of the class action lawyers had tangled with Maurice strong in another insider trading case, involving a Swiss company called AZL Resources, chaired by Strong, who was also a lead shareholder. The AZL case closely mirrored Molten Metal, and in the end, Strong and the other AZL partners agreed to pay $5 million to dodge a jury verdict, when eyewitness evidence surfaced of Strong’s role in scamming the value of the company stock up into the stratosphere, before selling it off.

In 1997, Strong went on to accept from Tongsun Park, who was found guilty of illegally acting as an Iraqi agent, $1 million from Saddam Hussein, which was invested in Cordex Petroleum Inc., a company he owned with his son, Fred.

These are the leaders in the Man-made Global Warming Movement, who three years later were to be funded by the man who was to become President of the United States of America.

If we follow the time line on where Obama was during the funding of the Chicago Climate Exchange, he was still a professor at the University of Chicago Law School teaching constitutional law, with his law license becoming inactive a year later in 2002.

It may be interesting to note that the Chicago Climate Exchange in spite of its hype, is a veritable rat’s nest of cronyism. The largest shareholder in the Exchange is Goldman Sachs. Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley is its honorary chairman, The Joyce Foundation, which funded the Exchange also funded money for John Ayers’ Chicago School Initiatives. John is the brother of William Ayers.

What a flap when it was discovered that the senator from Chicago had nursed on Saul Alinsky’s milk, had his political career launched at a coffee party held by domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, and sat for 20 years, uncomplaining in front of the “God-dam-America pulpit of resentment-challenged Jeremiah Wright.

Folk were naturally outraged that the empty suit who would go on to become TOTUS was spawned from such anti-American activism.

But the media should have been hollering, “Stop Thief!” instead.

The same Chicago Climate Exchange promoting public rip-off was funded by Obama before he was POTUS.

Even as man-made global warming is being exposed as a money-generating hoax, Obama is working feverishly to push the controversial cap-and-trade carbon reduction scheme through Congress.

Obama was never the character he created for himself in the fairy-tale version in “Dreams of My Father”. He’s the agent of Change and Hope for cohorts making money down at the Chicago Climate Exchange.

The Barbarians are pushing at the gate of the Global Warming fraud, and to borrow a line from children playing Hide and Seek, Here they come, ready or not!

We provide an analysis of Greenland temperature records to compare the current (1995–2005) warming period with the previous (1920–1930) Greenland warming. We find that the current Greenland warming is not unprecedented in recent Greenland history. Temperature increases in the two warming periods are of a similar magnitude, however, the rate of warming in 1920–1930 was about 50% higher than that in 1995–2005.

SOOOOO, the rate of warming has varried - humm, that might have something to to with the fact that MANY factors are involved - not just one ... and the key point is that it is WARMER NOW than any of those other periods ...Human caused warming starts in in the mid-1800 and goes through today - encompassing both time frames of your article...Also, the abstract says NOTHING about the CAUSE of the warming ... it would be nice to be able to read more than the abstract and see what the Authors actually say rather than relying on YOUR (uncredentialed) interpretation of what it means (wow, Judy MAKING UP CONCLUSIONS again, how unusual LMAO!!!)

Someone with scientific training would never have stooped to using an off-shore unknown with NO CREDENTIALS as a reference.

I presented peer-reviewed science which you don't seem to be able to understand.

The paper doesn't say ANYTHING ABOUT CAUSE AND EFFECT.

It's purpose is to show that it warmed in the 1920-30 period as well as the 1995-2005 period.

Your criticism is irrelevant and a strawman that stinks like a red herring.

Also, Judy the idea "that the Sun…is heading towards what is called ‘a grand minimum’ as we saw in the Little Ice Age" now appears to be just wishful thinking. According to NASA and the National Solar Observatory, it appears that sunspot activity is heating back up, only about a year behind the average schedule. In any case, a prolonged solar minimum would not be enough to offset the kind of heating we'll see if we continue to pour greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere as we've been doing. The Little Ice Age brought average global temperatures about 1.5 - 2.0 degrees celsius lower than the modern era - it would take an all-out effort at cutting emissions to keep anthropogenic global warming down to 1.5 - 2.0 degrees!

Even if ALL of humans input of green house gasses STOPPED TODAY, we are "committed" to at least another 1/4 to 1/2 degree rise (in addition to the 1.5 degrees already seen) in temprature from the green house gasses currently present in the system:

(by the way Judy, that reference is a peer reviewed letter in a scientific journal)

Current goals being set (but not implimented as yet) would "try" to keep future rises below 2 degrees increase - so the most widely proposed "solution target" (i.e., allowing CO2 levels to go from todays 385 parts per million to around 450 parts per milion) would still yeild an increase in tempratures. Given the severe effects we are seeing at current levels, many argue that such "lax" goals fall far short of what is turely needed to address the problem. Several scientists call for a REDUCTION of CO2 levels to about 350 parts per million (i.e., below todays levels) to stabalize the climate.
