I gave $100 to the International Red Cross's special relief appeal for Japan's crisis from the earthquake/tsunami/nuke-power-meltdown. I'm on Social Security; I'm saving up to give more, and this next time it will be for the animals absolutely. Thank you - NOTED & SIGNED.

Of course this is frustratingly sad for anyone to even think about, especially without the resources to help.
Which makes me wonder, during disasters such as this which could hit virtually any country, where is the help from the wealthy? For instance, Japan has a population of about 128 million, of whom 23 are biollionaires. And there are approximately 1,230,000 millionaire households. Do they each, in proportion to their financial worth, contribute to alleviating the pain and suffering of their country's animals?
No, I don't begrudge those of us who are not wealthy helping financially, or any other way. But this is food for thought.

It is heart wrenching to know that these animals are suffering due to no fault of theirs. If they are wild animals somehow they would survive in the forests. During good times, we need these animals for survival and as companions but during hard times, they are abandoned. In every aspect during the wake of the earthquake, Japan has shown great resilience and high morale spirit but they have failed the animals.

The animals are part of our lives. It is a cowardly abandon them to their fate. Remember they are our companions and deserve all our affection. No creature in the world deserves to go hungry and thirsty.

These are the real faces of this tragedy. These innocent animals had nothing to do with this and they are the ones who are dying and suffering in the most horrible way. They are being ignored by the authorities. Animals aren't disposable.

Please show compassion for these animals. Help them. In a tragedy such as this, the one lesson to be learned must surely be that ALL life is precious, and ALL survivors should be cherished and helped to live.

I am all for saving the animals where ever they are,but if you try you can find that we have millions of animals in the U.S.A that are being treated terriable..They are raised in puppy mills in a small cage. They are beaten, starved, reside in filthy conditions, deserted,Pits are taught to fight, there fore being labeled as dangerous animals.People do not take responsibility of spaying and neutering of their animals then when they reproduce babies they dump them some where to get rid of and to keep from taking care of them.I can't afford to send donations.I wish I could, but locally I can give of used items to help with bedding, baths are something.
Another good thing would be if the people of Japan who wasn't hurt or had homes left if they could foster some of these animals they could save some of them..I am talking about those in other regions of the country.
