Sarah Palin's Big, Sleazy Safari

For most of us, zooming around in an airplane to shoot wolves sounds insane. For Sarah Palin, it's a "safari." In her time as governor of Alaska, Palin has used her position as governor of Alaska to ruin the Alaskan wilderness in every way she could.

For millions of hunting friends in America this would be the reason to vote for her but i must hope that the number of people who oppose is much much bigger! Every normal hunter would say no to an invitation to shoot animals from a heli or airplane....its like a canned hunt people who do this are not hunters! They are simple killers! Slaughter is the better word for this kind of hunt! $arah for president and you can kiss all your wildlife goodbye! Conservation will be banned from the Agenda!

Totally agree - this anit "sport" at all. It takes a "great hunter" to chase down a wolf in an airplane, wait tell it exhausts itself in the deep snow, and then when it can hardly more, simply get out of the plane and shoot the helpless animal... very pethetic actually...

I'm ashamed my country allows this. I'd like to see this evil woman hunted down by airplane.

I can't imagine what this country would be like if this person is allowed in the white house. We can say good by to all our wild life she has no respect for life what so ever as long as it makes her what she thinks look pretty and fills her pockets with money.

My fear is that as hard as it is to get any animal welfare or environmental laws passed with these 2 in the white house it will become impossible. I still cannot believe that this was the choice.

She is The Devil!
The monster our children fear every night that we tuck them in to bed!
I think we are all still in shock! Like a bad dream of our own.
And the animals will truly suffer the worst of it!!!!!

Just the thought of this makes me furious. This is not a sport, this is slaughter and the one's who do this are murderer's! This should be banned everywhere and legal action taken against those who do this vile act. Grrrrrr Angrily noted, Tom.

The thought of this woman being a heartbeat away from the presidency is horrific! I have to question Mccain's mental capacity and judgement if this is who he picks for the number two position.

Sick people promote sick agendas - the Bu$h-League mentality oozes on in Candidates chosen by a pathetic party. Mc$ame & Palin are just like Bu$h & Cheney - worse, Now that They KNOW going in what they can get away with!

Safari...the time of the "Great White Hunter" is long gone. A thinking error on Ms. Palin's part....and she has more!! I totally agree with you Hans L. And, McCain's choice of Palin for VP was a great choice for Republican Party Failure on November 4th.

As a lover of God's Creatures, I detest idiots like Palin and the cowards
of Safari Club International! I still would like someone with a hand held
rocket launcher to blow one of the planes out of the air. THAT WOULD SCARE A LOT OF THEM FROM THIS KIND OF "HUNTING" After all, they are "COWARDS"!
Palin is a perfect replacement for Cheney! A year or so ago, I received a blog that told of his "canned hunt" of Phesants!
He and a group of his killing friends, which included Roger Staubuck,
Shot and killed over 600 "pen raised pheasants! Cheney shot over 60 himself!
They were tame and some had their wings clipped so they couldn't fly!
So the hunt attendants threw then off a tower so they could blast away!
They then had lunch and did the same to "pen raised" mallard ducks in the afternoon!! Isn't that great! I call them "band of cowards"!
I call mCheney the "worlds biggest coward because of sick hunting sleezeand of him doing the hiding instead of the Moron! That sort of tells us how
valuable the Moron is!!!!

If you want to see the blog if this "wonderful hunt, go to HSUS.org!

This woman is scum, pure and simple. Too bad she didn't succeed in her efforts with the Alaska Independent Party to secede from the union. The stakes are too high for symbolic voting this year. Ron Paul supports the same kind of "laissez-fair" hunting policies, so don't think turning to him will protect the animals.

I'm enraged at this stupid Jackass of a moran. I do not care I hope the plane or helicopter goes down with her in it and I will be singing " Happy Trail to you" For no animal on this planet is safe with it crawling and looking for a kill. Thank Tom.

Its really scary to think that someone as evil as that woman could be 2nd in command of the most powerful country in the world - what message would the American people be sending to the rest of us if that happens?! I will watch the outcome in November with trepidation and pray that common sense and decency prevail!

People? What do you want from a party that considers Rush Limbaugh a god?
The pity is McCain and Palin will win this election.
Why, because we are the same electorate that gave Bush/Cheney 8 years.
I have given up on the Democratic Party .
It would be far better if you really care about The Environment just to support The Green Party. Yet I know few of you will. I mean with McCain and Palin this will give you four more years too come to places like this and post how sad you are.
If any of you really want CHANGE out there. That Change starts with you and the way you live .You and I are the real power not some political figurehead.
Without our buying power the richest of the rich will lose much of their wealth. Those wolves being shot from airplanes, will flourish because we will use less of the oil and other minerals from Alaska.
BOYCOTTS are a Revolution without ever firing a shot.
That old chesnut UNITED WE STAND would ring true.
The problem is we do not have the resolve. I know it and you know it.

So sad to think that any Govt. would want such a person to be at the helm of anything. She's all over the news here in India, and I can tell you people are shocked! Is she really a woman, with a whole brood of kids? The tendencies, she shows are strange.

Shooting a wolf more than 6 times, hitting each part of him/her and chasing it from a plane is barbaric. Sarah Palin as governor of Alaska allows this, in addition to a regular hunting season of wolves. Claims that moose herd & caribou are down due to wolves is ridiculous. It is due to hunters hunting the moose and caribou and having elaborate safaris. What people do to animals, is what they do to people. What kind of person allows aerial brutal torture to wolves? Think about it. See Defenders of Wildlife for the aerial hunting video. It shows the truth.

....here's species she will give her advocacy for:

BARRACUDA

1 : any of a genus (Sphyraena of the family Sphyraenidae) of elongate predaceous often large bony fishes of warm seas that includes food and sport fishes as well as some forms frequently causing ciguatera poisoning

2 : one that uses aggressive, selfish, and sometimes unethical methods to obtain a goal especially in business

Perhaps one day the animals will get lucky and she won't be able to get out of their way or shoot fast enough and they will get their revenge. I posted something about this on a forum yesterday, and someone said I needed to get my facts straight. In other words they called me a liar. It's hard to convince people who already have their minds made up. You can rub their noses in the truth and they still won't believe it.

The Alaska Fish and Game Department also SHOT 14 WOLF CUBS IN THE HEAD; after their mothers were killed. The wolf cubs were shot close-up and execution-style. Shooting nursing mothers and wolf babies IS ILLEGAL EVEN IN ALASKAN LAW. So far, NO-ONE has been held accountable.
Sarah Palin and her cronies REGARD WOLVES AS VERMIN; fit only to be EXTERMINATED.
That is why ANY AND ALL METHODS OF WOLF SLAUGHTER ARE O.K. WITH HER; both legal and not. No matter how cruel, un-ethical, un-"sporting", and even illegal according to such laws as do exist. It is her and her pals' IDEOLOGY.
According to them, Moose and Caribou EXIST ONLY FOR THE "FUN" AND "PLEASURE" OF SPORT HUNTERS. Hunters kill the largest and healthiest specimens, thereby weakening the Gene Pool. The entire Environment goes to ruin. You can bet she'll be for poisoning and exterminating all Prairie Dogs in the lower 48 when she gets in office! {IF such a disaster is allowed to happen!}

"Perhaps the saddest aspect of Palin's disgusting record on environmental issues is the fact that it's hardly even being mentioned in the debate about her nomination. Most of the focus, for an audience of suckers weaned on celebrity gossip, seems to be about her mothering skills, her daughter's pregnancy and whether she was Miss Congeniality or just a runner-up in some beauty pageant. The fact that she makes her living helping to wipe out whole species, poison productive watersheds and play to the stupidest great-white-hunter fantasies of her constituency hardly seems worth a mention.

BMutiny-You couldn't be more right if you tried! :) The average citizen doesn't know her animal or environmental track record-for the most part; only activists will. So it is up to people like all of us, to educate them! You Tube, MySpace, Facebook, write letters to the Editors of newspapers and when a radio station discusses this(I heard one yesterday)call in and get the information "out there"!
This woman(I use that term loosely)is trash.

How do we not no she could have been the one who killed them the mother and the pups it would not suprise me one bit. HERE'S HOPING!!

Been watching all the reports on television & all the pro/con reports on her. Nary a peep much less a roar on her views about wolves or animals in general. Can bet she is hoping no one bothers to bring it all out in the open between now or near the time of the election!!!!!!

The more I watch her and study her body/facial language I've concluded Cindy McCain is damned near a saint compared to Palen or Michele Obama!!!!!!!!!

Between these two candidates of McCain & Obama all I can say lord help us bigtime.

June......AMEN-AMEN-AND AMEN!!!!!!!!

June, you know the show America's Got Talent? Well, America has politicians that can't sing, dance or play any instruments. Too bad we can't boot them off the stage of reality when they begin to put on their mask of solutions in light of all the despair that we endure.

Ohhhhhh, but how they persist through their lyin' teeth they are the ones to straighten out whatever with their melody of hope and lyrics of lies!!!!!!!!!!

I for one don't care for their damned song & dance with the devil on one hand & the bible on the other.........No other country would have them anyway.

Not only is her track record bad on Wolves and Alaskan Environment,
she also is helping Big Oil to win the drilling in Alaska that will harm our already endangered Polar Bears from Global Warming. Among other things, she is assisting by trying to not have them listed as endangered. Her husband works for an Oil Co.
This woman should not be in office. I can't believe McCain selected her!

Can't wait for the headlines: "Cheney & Palin Go Hunting Together...And Shoot Each Other In The Face !!!" My step-father has always hunted and my father has always fished...but they actually EAT what they kill. What the hell is it with people shooting cornered, close-to-extinct, inedible, defense-less animals? Unless Palin planned on having wolf burgers, and, conversely, Cheney having quail stew, you got to wonder what is wrong with their sense of "right and wrong". Even if they planned on eating the poor animals they cruelly slaughtered, for god's sake....hunting is protected & practiced as a SPORT !!! Their is nothing challenging, rewarding, or sporting about the use of fences, helicopters, or high powered rifles. The execution of baby animals and their nursing mothers is unexcusable. It's a sport because - you win some, you lose some, and you get better with practice. Noone should find simply mowing-down a life at close range with the decks stacked enjoyable.......or else they have a screw loose. Isn't cruelty to animals one of the earmarks of a serial killer?

I have to wonder what a woman who takes pleasure in a sadistic, brutal activity like this has to say about torturing prisoners of war... or taking out innocent civilians when bombing a foreign country... or upholding civil rights. Her 'morality' is skin-deep and self-serving.

Let's see; the evil smelly bitch kills thousands of animals and she says she is pro-life? Like f'ing hell she is. She is a disgusting person, and it scares the hell out of me that we have a man with one foot in the grave running for president, with this bitch at his side. If she runs this country, and that could very well happen, then our wildlife, and all animal welfare will be in big trouble, to say the least.

What caring people need to do is contact all the television stations and the programs, the media by sending notes. Demand that the truth be told and exposed about Sarah Palin. Currently, her background is being "candy-coated," and the public has a right to know about her cruelty to animals. What kind of woman professes to be pro-life, yet creates an abortion of cruelty to wolves and bears.

That must be selective pro-life Maureen,You make a good point...Wolves and bears actually kill moose and caribou to eat; thus, there are less "game animals" for human hunters to kill and eat. So, if wolf and bear numbers are decreased by killing them, there will be more moose and caribou for human hunters. That's the "logic." Unfortunate for the bears and wolves who cannot shop in grocery stores for their meals. The numbers of bears and wolves on this beautiful Earth are insignificant compared to the numbers of human beings on this Earth. I consider every animal death to be a significant loss...particularly wild animals that depend on no one but themselves for survival. When a wolf pack takes down a moose, within one hour the entire moose has been devoured, not only by the wolves, but by all creatures nearby such as fox, ravens, eagles, ermine, mink and many other small birds and animals of the wild. Sometimes wolf kills are confiscated by bears and the wolves go hungry until they can make another kill. There are a number of people who depend upon hunting and gathering in Alaska; they are mostly the Native Alaskans who have lived from the land for time unknown, also known as subsistence hunters. Anyone who can go to a grocery store or Costco probably does not need to go kill a moose or caribou or bear for survival. Anyone who kills a wild animal as a "trophy" is seriously lacking in knowledge of and compassion for wild animals.MM

Maureen S (35)
Saturday September 6, 2008, 6:14 pm
Marjorie M - How beautifully you explained the process of nature and how each animal is really dependent on others. Animals are a gift to all of us. I agree with you that anyone who has to take the life of an animal as a trophy is lacking knowledge and compassion. Yep, I think it is "selective pro-life." I pray for all the animals every night. If I could win the lottery, I would buy up land and place all the wolves, bears, hurting animals there to live naturally in peace. My heart aches for these creatures at the mercy of mankind (womankind).
