The prospect that the King Penguin will become extinct as a result of climate warming is rising inexorably. Higher sea surface temperatures diminish the amount of available marine prey, which means they have to travel greater distances to find food.

Perhaps we could get Cariboo Barbie to lie about penguins, like she does about polar bears, and then everyone would get upset about it and DO SOMETHING!

If scientists are sure of this, why can't they catch some mating pairs and keep it from happening? Having species go extinct is just not acceptable...thanks, Tom.

That may work for one year maybe, but these penguins do not mate for life so may not like each other next year. They also pick mates that came through the previous year with live chicks. Daddies must care for the chicks through the coldest winter storms, while the females are out at the oceans edge feeding.

If the scientists know what to do, just go do it!

What a sad prospect for such a beautiful creature. We hear it far too often these days. The future sure looks bleak for so many. We just have to keep fighting people like Bush and Palin.
