It's just so sad to see such an animal subjected to this unnatural life to entertain humans. Thanks, Kevin.

He was not in condition to run for four hours after living years in a pen! He finally found freedom only to die. This is so very sad, get animals out of circuses, it's cruel and abusive.

Noted. Thanks so much, Kevin. This is so sad. Poor giraffe, may he be a peace now on the Rainbow Bridge. Seems to me like this was a senseless death.

So sad, but he's probably better off than being in a circus, circuses should be banned.

Say NO to circuses with animals. Giraffes apparently have a weak heart as they can't endure stress. This is horrendous. Why did it escape il the first place? Because it was ill-treated?

i think giraffes are delicate due to the long necks and blood traveling from the heart, however, in the wild state they have more exercize and a run from a lion wouldn't kill them. Not sure about panicing for 4 hours. Poor animal. Must have been a hell hole of a local do they squeeze a long necked animal into a trailer or whatever they transport them in? Poor baby, free at last.

it says a lot about being in the ring and circus life! I's rather make a run for it and die free than in captivity in a damn circus and crate!

This is so heart breaking! And a perfect example as to why circuses & any and all forms of animal exploitation should be banned permanently.

That is so sad. The day this giraffe died was probably the best day of it's life. Circus's are no place for wild animals. Please don't go to animal circus's to watch wild animals forced to do unnatural things for human entertainment. Human only circus's are so good and classy.

This is so sad. These wonderful creatures don't belong in a circus, they need to live their lives they way they were intended.

This is so sad, they should outlaw circuses, its terrorizing for the animals, besides they are cruel to them too. Poor giraffe they are so beautiful and gentle, this giraffe wouldnt of died if it hadnt been so scared.

What the hell is a giraffe doing in a CIRCUS, of all places??? Are there actually circuses that force GIRAFFES to perform?

Rest in peace, sweetie. :-(

These animals are under too much stress. This is tragic and completely preventable if humans would only grow a functioning brain and realize that animals belong in the wild.

Terrible, just terrible. Methinks they maniacally chased the poor thing through the streets -- even though it should have been known (from the other e.g.'s in the article) that giraffes react very poorly to stress! And of course getting shot with a tranquilizer sure didn't help. Most people have no idea how to handle animals correctly. And yes, the giraffe shouldn't have been in a circus in the first place.

The only positive thing about this story is that it caused more town to forbid circuses with animals within their territory, I just hope it will not be a one -week wave only.

sadly noted....don't you see that this animal was frightened and was running and not knowing where to go???? again circus animals should never be confined in these cramped cages and expect to perform.....that is not why they are on this earth.......I say replace with ignorant humans that put them through this torment and make them perform instead of wouldn't that be worth going to see???????? let the animals be the spectators!!
