Why hasn't she been charged yet??? Unfortunately,if she isn't charged other whackos will think that they can do this also.The manatees have so much to contend with already.

Given that it is a misdemeanor crime, she was likely cited and released with a future court date. If we have any Care2 members in Miami, I ask that they follow up on this for us. Since the outcome is likely not to be "newsworthy
we may not otherwise hear anything more. Given that they had no evidence of injury to the animal, if this is a first offense she will likely get the minimal penalty. Years ago, Miami-Dade County was releasing convicted rapists early to make room for killers, so unless things have changed there I would not expect much. I will check at 'Miami-Dade County courts (at records again next week but am not sure of finding the case .
