I wish we had never gotten the webby-web. It is going to everywhere. But the same could be said of telephones! Just gotta roll with the tide?
I signed! Got that, NSA?

I (partially) agree! NSA went more than a bit overboard with these surveillance programs. They'd better allocate some of their massive resources to scrutinise their sloppy internal control and practices of their employees and contractors. It should be much easier to streamline behaviour of these +1.000.000 agents with top security clearance (sitting in specific facilities and using authorised computers) than to spy on couple of billion internet users worldwide sharing kitten's videos and other funny stuff. Real terrorists do not update their FB wall, they do not tweet, blog, email or plan their actions on forums and social websites. So, what are the NSA agents doing on SecondLife or World of Warcraft, except having good tax-payer-sponsored time?

I liked Santa a whole lot more than Prism!

And I don't agree that if you have done or are doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear.

Don't forget that President Obama has not annulled, revoked or had Congress repeal any of the Bush Constitutional-guarantee-suspending laws (e.g. Patriot Act & others); on the contrary, he has had them all reinstated!!! : as a result, the mere suspicion of terrorist-related activity or even just having associated (even once & by accident) with someone who turns out to be a terrorist is enough for you to be arrested & held under SAMs!

For example, putting up a friend of a friend -who gets your number abroad from the mutual friend back home in the States & then this friend of a friend turns out to be connected to Al Qaida -obviously without you ever having known about it- is grounds to have all your Constitutional guarantees before the law indefinitely suspended & you are held under 'SAMs' - Special Administrative Measures - which allow the government via prosecutors to confine you under extremely harsh conditions, as though you were really a PUBLIC MENACE --even if you never were & never have been a violent person;even if you have no prior criminal record of any sort-- with 24/24-hour surveillance, 23/24 in solitary confinement, with all sorts of prohibitions, such as having reading material and making certain movements within your cell [such as exercises], having your cell lit up 24hrs.day (otherwise how can those cameras film you & make sure you aren't doing any of those prohibited movements?), family visits extremely restricted & limited, etc etc.

Sound wild? Well, it's happened, at least once that I know of!

Have a good long look & tell me being innocent suffices not to be suspected! Tell me that you are innocent until proven guilty! Tell me you'll always get a FAIR TRIAL in the USA!

I posted the following submission before Sayed Fahad Hashmi, known to friends & family as Fahad, actually came to trial, with the tragic outcome that Chris Hedges discusses in the article linked to further down: Brooklyn College Grad Experiences Constitution in a Cage: Held >2 YRS in 23-Hr Solitary Because of Plea-Bargaining Govt Informant - FREE Fahad!.

My post was the Democracy Now! show devoted to the case: "Guantanamo at Home": Muslim American Syed Fahad Hashmi Held in 23-Hour Solitary Pretrial Confinement for Over Two Years in Case Resting on Plea-Bargaining Government Informant --Guests:

--> Jeanne Theoharis, advised Fahad Hashmi while he was a student at Brooklyn College. She wrote an article about him in the April 20th edition of The Nation magazine, "Guantanamo at Home" (subtitle: "Terror suspects are held in US prisons on dubious evidence under inhumane conditions") She holds the endowed chair in women’s studies and is an associate professor of political science at Brooklyn College, CUNY.

--> Faisal Hashmi, brother of Fahad Hashmi.

--> Sean Maher, Attorney for Fahad Hashmi.

Amy Goodman's introduction to the discussion: "One day after President Obama trumpeted the achievements & freedoms of Muslim Americans in his celebrated Cairo speech, we look at the case of Syed Fahad Hashmi, a US citizen who has been held in pretrial twenty-three-hour solitary confinement in a Manhattan federal prison for over two years. Hashmi is charged with providing material support to al-Qaeda in a case that rests on the testimony of Junaid Babar, an old acquaintance of Hashmi’s who turned government informant after his own arrest on terror charges. Hashmi is being prosecuted for a two-week period when Babar stayed at his home carrying rain gear that was allegedly later delivered to al-Qaeda members in Pakistan."

Nat Hentoff, the famous Village Voice journalist, had also written an article about Fahad's unimaginable case: "A Brooklyn College Grad Experiences the Constitution in a Cage" - "Torture in Manhattan for 28-year-old Muslim American Sayed Fahad Hashmi"

DN! FOLLOW-UP: After 3 Years in Pretrial Solitary Confinement, Fahad Hashmi Pleads Guilty on Eve of Terror Trial --TO TOTAL SHOCK OF HIS FAMILY & 'SAVE FAHAD' CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE MEMBERS!!! - DN! Exclusive: His Brother, Faisal, & Jeanne Theoharis, His Former College Advisor & Lead Campaigner for his Release, Author of the article, “Guantanamo at Home,” in The Nation, all appear on Democracy Now!

No one expected him to plead guilty; his family could only see him on rare occasions, because of his particularly drastic detention known as SAMs, special administrative measures. We can only surmise what sorts of pressure he was under. The prosecutors had requested & were granted an 'anonymous' jury, a measure which Jeanne Theoharis labeled 'egregious' at the time & the CCR denounced!

Center for Constitutional Rights (the committed lawyers who also defend/ed Guantanamo prisoners) - "CCR Denounces Government Attempt to Frighten Jury in NYC Trial of Fahad Hashmi"

At the time there was a link on the DN! coverage of Sayed Fahad Hashmi's terrible case: The 'FREE FAHAD CAMPAIGN' link no longer works, it has been SHUT DOWN & we all have to live with this terrible injustice, this miscarriage of justice! NOBODY EXCEPT HIS FAITHFUL PROFESSOR, MAYBE A FEW JOURNALISTS, and HIS FAMILY --MOTHER/FATHER/BROTHER-- CARES about THE FATE of FAHAD! NOBODY TALKS ABOUT IT ANYMORE ('cept me!)

The following articleby Chris Hedges was once on the 'Save Fahad' Campaign site, but now that the site's shut down & the campaign abandoned for good, it's on TruthDig: "One Day We’ll All Be Terrorists" by Chris Hedges

Not surprised that Santa was recruited by the NSA...who else has such access to private homes, especially handy when people are sleeping. What better time to snoop??? Wonder if they threatened to shoot poor Rudolf if he didn't help???
