This is sad and depressing. Yet I continue to have hope!

is this an omen or what?

Sad but i see no reason why people/religious groups find it necessary to always abduct doves only to release them later anyway. What's the point really?? Thx Christeen

I don't think vicious is quite the right word. Crows and gulls are both avian predators - they don't all have hooked beaks! If the doves seemed to be fluttering, rather than flying strongly, and this is quite possible if they had been confined a long time, they could have looked like easy prey.

Cleary, not all bird species are on board...

I'm sure the doves are in hiding at this time.

Birds can be territorial at times, wondering just who the doves are suddenly appearing in their turf. Sometimes crows get dive bombing by very annoyed grackles if flying too close to their nests as grackles know that crows are looking for their eggs or their very young.

I'm with Natasha on this one. I cannot see the purpose to this either, just ends up badly for these beautiful innocent birds---so sad & "avoidable." Thanks for this share dearest Christeen!~~~

Poor little doves :(
Bad crows! I pray that the doves are truly recovered. TYSM Christeen.

I am amazed that the Pope did not think about the safety of those doves before releasing them. Or, like others said, WHY and what is the purpose of this to use birds. But, considering what happened this time - hopefully, they will think about what happened in this incident so there will NOT be a next time. I hope the doves were not too badly injured by the other birds and they recovered and able to survive.
