Noted!!! Here where I was brought up each family burned trash behind house until the early 70s..then the city collected it and burned outside of city limits..by early 80s the stopped burning and began to bury landfills...today it is still buried but with all the plastic it will takeveons to decompose!!! Thanks Christeen for bringing this important issue up!!!

Well I think there is a way to change it, try to recycle all. In South America there are many places where all the trash just get on a hill and the children searching things they can use again. In EU most of the countries recycle paper, plastic, clothes, glass,TV, dishwasher etc. etc. and sell the metals afterwards to Asia for big money.
To clean the air we have to invest first and to start to change our habbits, like now California with the plastic bags. We all can do a bit and most important to educate our children to be careful.Singapur and theHigways are clean, why not around the corner .
Years ago everybody tried to repair things, today we have to buy another one because the materials are terrible bad made.(mostly from China) and cannot be repaired. The washing machine breaks down after 6-8 years because the manufacturer like it that way. As long there is money more important than the climat , our generation has lost the play.
