the d.a. already did a thorough investigation and cleared the woman of all charges back in march. the vet was aware of what she was doing to the dogs. a vet determined that there were no signs of abuse and that the dogs had better than average care. it may not be good news, but i imagine the woman learned a lesson by having to go through the ordeal of the investigation.

Yes, IF what they claim she was doing to HELP a couple of elderly dogs defecate was in fact what was being done, that would be one thing, but it clearly was not. It wasn't just one or two out of the pack, either, and she definitely was not using the palm of her hand or just a finger. Were those investigators blind?

Elaine, that's pretty harsh and actually RUDE to say the neighbor is as "stupid as a bag of rocks" because she hasn't taken it upon herself to be a vigilante and break the law. The owner has faced charges and been cleared, and that is sad, BUT what if everyone who views what they perceive to be something "wrong" decided to get justice themselves? Think about that. We have law and courts for a reason.

If you've bothered watching the news (and even though this happened in my local area, it made the ABC Morning News) a local man got pissed after being annoyed for hours at a movie and took it upon himself to do something about it. He asked the kids who were ruining his theatre "experience" to stop running around and quiet down. They didn't, so he punched one of them, a 10-yr-old in the face, breaking off a tooth. He was arrested for assault and is out on bail. He's sorry, and all of us have felt as he did, but I can only imagine the chaos if everyone reacted the same way. Good grief, SHOOT OUT at the O.K. Corral again?

lLucy, if you watched the video or read the article from the paper that Catherline posted, the vet she uses claims that the practice of wiping one's hand over the anus to stimulate "action" is normal when an animal has difficulty. Really? Geez, newborn cats and dogs (and I'm sure other species) have that area licked by Mom to stimulate "pooping" because that's normal with newborns, but these were not newborn Huskies. They appeared to be all leshed and waiting their turns and none seemed to enjoy the procedure. Most vets will sedate an animal to have impacted anal glands cleared. Many breeds are prone to being so affected, especially toy breeds. My Mom's Poodle had to go the vet about every 2 weeks to have it done.

So this woman has been investigated & cleared. How is the behavior she practices- standard of care? I find the practice abusive & inhumane. If this is standard of practice & considered OK behavior, eventho she does not use gloves, lubricant nor is gentle, then this practice needs to be re examined by the Veternary Society & have specific rationale put in place as to when this can be practiced. Yet our courts seem oblivious to what I think is becoming a widespread pervasive epidemy and not enough outrage generated from the public at large! We must awaken the sleeping giant of the law and demand real justice from real judges! This is as real an issue as any other occupying the social spectra such as clean air, the right to defend your home and family from criminals, and the right to expect protection for your friends, in this case, your pets! But wht kind of protection and/or justice do we get when animal killers, abusers, are being given a tap on the hand? The future's looking bleak for all of us and our world less and less hospitable! I've had many dogs in my life and discovered that when they're fed and exercised at the same time daily for the same length of time, my dogs would/will pee and poop pretty much at the same time every day. The only time there's a change in bowel habits is if the dog's diet changes or the exercise changes (with the exception of issue related to the dog's health). I really have to wonder if what that woman is doing is self-rewarding and nothing to do with the dog's care.

Beside taking these poor creatures away from their torturer to find them a house where they will be loved and taken care of by an animal-friendly family for the rest of their lives ?! Their scars and wounds will live within them forever. And once that is done, once they are saved, the same story will start all over again, somewhere else, with somebody else. What has been reported about Ms. Wise' behaviour worries me - clearly she should not be allowed to keep dogs, or any other animal for that matter but beyond this she seems to lack the morale values by which most of us live. Those who deviate from what most of society considers to be 'normal' potentially pose a threat to society. Whilst I can empathise (to a certain degree) with those who feel moved toward violence I cannot agree with them - Ms. Wise needs treatment but it must also be recognised that she potentially poses a threat to others.

I actually became physically nauseated after reading this.
The phrase, "I thought I had heard just about everything",
is becoming a mantra in my life rather than the rare passing
thought. There HAS to be something that can be done to
get these dogs away from this abusive situation. How can
ANY judge or vet have found in favor of this woman is way
beyond me & what in their minds constitutes abuse & non-abuse.
Besides the sodomy, supposedly something done to encourage
them to defecate, she is turning their necks backwards to almost

reeling from this. I've had dogs all my life. Several have been huskies &
