I came upon this Tweet tonight that offers a last hope for Lennox.

According to this message, Northern Ireland's Agricultural Minister Michelle O' Neil has the power to pardon Lennox. It's worth sending her a brief note urging her to acknowledge the facts about Lennox...that he is an innocent dog who deserves the dignity of a happy life and freedom.

It's worth a try. Please also note the story below....the protests in Belfast and NYC are now receiving international attention....hopefully a good thing. Thanks dearly, Michelle >^..^<

The correct email address for Michelle O'Neill (That's with 2 L's, not 1) Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development is: private.office@dardni.gov.uk The email address you posted had a dash instead of a dot. I sent the email and this time it worked so this address is correct.

Important Note:

The correct email address for Michelle O'Neill (2 ll's), Northern Ireland's Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development is:

private.office@dardni.gov.uk

The person who provided the address in their Tweet was in error.

Minister O'Neill has the power to pardon Lennox. Urge her to take note of the international push for his release and rehoming in the states. Remind her that Northern Ireland is an EU member nation and that the Belfast City Council failed to uphold EU sanctioned animal welfare ethics in the treatment of Lennox this past two years. Photos released display open sores on his body and a severe loss of fur. Behaviorists also noted a neck injury and bleeding paws. This appalling degredation of health has led some to suggest that the BCC be investigated. There would be NO tolerance for a human criminal to be neglected in such a horrific way.

Also highlight the shame and ridicule this travesty of justice has brought upon Northern Ireland in the eyes of the global community and the ramifications of putting him down in regard to tourism and other economic matters. Most importantly, urge her to consider the true evidence that the BCC has thus far ignored: that Lennox was a gentle therapy dog who harmed not a single living being while in his owner's custody or in the custody of Belfast wardens, and that any evidence to the contrary has been refuted not only by dog behaviorists and observers, but by the very individuals that deemed Lennox a "dangerous dog" to begin with.

This may be our last chance. We have come this far. Please beg Minister O'Neill to pardon Lennox and redeem Northern Ireland's position as a nation of common sense and compassion.

Take this last opportunity to help save dear Lennox. TY. Michelle

Update: just saw Victoria Stillwell Tweet claiming repeated attempts to meet with Belfast City Council Members have failed. Her words:

Victoria Stilwell ‏@ItsMeOrTheDog

"Despite repeated requests, @BelfastCC has refused 2 meet me 2 discuss alternatives for @SaveLennox. Why? I'm not going away, so let's talk."

What is the BCC trying to hide? Why won't they talk to anyone or allow the family to see their dog? There needs to be an investigation. The ethics of what they have done to Lennox....and what they are doing now STINKS!

Noted and here is my email to Michelle O'Neill Northern Irelands Minister for Agriculture and Rural Developement:Dear Michelle,I am writing to you to ask you as Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development in Northern Ireland to PLEASE PLEASE find it in your heart to release beloved Lennox so he can be rehomed in the USA and to know love, compassion, kindness and happiness once more,it breaks my heart to think of his two years in a cold cement cell and his suffering through no fault of his own,he has never hurt anyone and is a loving pet,he must wonder WHY he has been abandoned and been left isolated with no love shown to him by cold hearted humans just because he looks like a certain breed! He deserves better and i pray you can find it in your heart to do the right thing for this poor innocent dog who does not understand WHY he is rotting in a cell.I find it unbearable to think of his sadness at being so alone without his loved ones even being able to visit him and let him know he is LOVED,he is also LOVED by so many people all over the world.PLEASE show the world that Northern Ireland is a compassionate place and will do the right thing for LENNOX.His health is suffering and i saw some photo's of him looking poorly with loss of fur and some injuries to his neck and paws, how could this have happened if he is alone in a cell? It would break my heart to think that he has not been looked after properly by the kennel staff,so sad and upsetting and as a compassionate human being i am sure you will investigate the condition he is in now to compared when he arrived two years ago,i thank you from the bottom of my heart in dealing with this very urgent matter as tuesday 10th july is the day that beloved LENNOX is suppose to be put to sleep,i am praying for a miracle and hope you will stop the killing of this beautiful dog who has no voice to speak up for himself so i will be his voice and i have followed this sad story from the beginning. Also PLEASE could you allow his family to see him as the little girl misses her precious pet LENNOX.Thank you so much for taking the time to read my plea for Lennox.Thank you.Liz Gillard. Thank you for ALL you are doing for beloved LENNOX dear Michelle and thank you to all the caring people here on Care2 and the world who are praying and will never give up hope to save beautiful LENNOX...Thank you so much for being his voice,so many tears!!! Love Liz Xx Please feel free to copy this email and modify if you wish, anything that helps save LENNOX will be great.Hoping and praying for you dear Lennox.I hope that Michelle O'neill is as caring and compassionate about our beloved Lennox as we are and will do her best to save him.Thank you Liz Xx

Never in my life have i witnessed such IGNORANCE and STUBBORNESS such as i've seen demonstrated by the judge and the legal system in Belfast Ireland its dispicable! I dont think theres any hope for poor Lennox as long as such ignorance, prejudice and pride is involved! RIP LENNOX YOU WERE LOVED!!!!!!

this is wonderful that the world is uniting for the saving of Lennox....the officials say he has severe personality problems....well, if you had been taken away from your family and in isolation with no human contact for 2 years don't you think your personality would have changed...I mean come on, where is the logic in these people....with love and proper training these dogs are resilient. For instance look at the Vick dogs, and all of them now are rehabilitated and some have even been adopted to families...any animal can love and be loved if given the chance...this poor dog has suffered long enough....for 2 years and for what...looking like a pit bull....may the people that have done this to this dog suffer even more so than the anguish this beautiful dog has been through...God free this dog is my constant prayer!!!!! He does not deserve to die for his looks!!!!!!!!!

It pains me to no end to even think this, but there is no other logical explanation to the pure stubbornness here other then the fact that they already murdered poor Lennox.

This whole thing makes me wish I had vacation planned there or routinely brought things from there just so I could boycott. It's enough to make me deny my partial Irish heritage and from now on I'll be wearing blue on St.Patrick's Day in honor of Lennox. This is absolutely disgusting.

Earlier this afternoon Victoria Stillwell posted on her Facebook page:

Spent a great afternoon with the courageous and beautiful Barnes family in Belfast. Their passion not only for saving Lennox but also for making the world safer for all dogs is humbling and awesome to behold. No matter the outcome, we must all unite worldwide to overturn BSL everywhere and make sure their ordeal has not been in vain.

Inexplicably, thus far the Belfast City Council has denied my repeated requests to meet privately and discuss alternatives for Lennox. We're not finished fighting this, though, and will keep you updated.

THank you Michelle for not giving up on Lennox.

Thanks Michelle, it's not over until the fat lady sings. I sent another email to Minister O'Neill at all emails noted using some of the points mentioned above as well as my own points. I am so disgusted by the Belfast City Council. They are a mean-spirited bunch, taking Lennox away from the Barnes family. Shame on them. They will rot in hell for their actions if they murder him. Hopefully, he will be spared and rehomed.

Royal Perogative of Mercy Plea. These are the 2 email addresses; these 2 people are the ones to stop the murder of Lennox until the Queen decides. That is my understanding. I don't know about this but it can't hurt right? Anything to save poor Lennox. Let's flood their inboxes.

contact@attorneygeneralni.gov (John Larkin)
dard.private-office@dardni.gov.uk (Minister O'Neill)

This is the email. The article says they all have to say this exact wording:

I am writing to you as one of over 182,500 people worldwide who have signed a petition to support and demand the release of Lennox who is currently held at an unknown location by Belfast City Council. Following a legal appeal heard by the Court of Appeal NI, Lennox has been sentenced to die and we urgently request a stay of execution of the dog Lennox by the power vested in you until the following has been clarified:

A request for clemency has been submitted to Her Majesty the Queen and to all senior politicians in Northern Ireland, requesting that Lennox be spared the death sentence and be allowed to be exported out of the UK to where safe sanctuary is waiting for him.

We believe there have been irregularities in the judicial handling of the case and there is worldwide anger and serious reservations concerning the treatment of the dog and that this may be a cover-up to hide the damage done to him while in the care of Belfast City Council.

Failing clemency, with no permission to export, the right of the family to have a final visit with their dog and be allowed to receive his body (currently rumoured to be withheld by Belfast C.C) is surely a basic right for a family grieving for their family member.

A death penalty, issued to an innocent animal, is due to be executed by Tuesday 10th July. Lennox, a much loved family companion, was seized two years ago, by council officials in Belfast City Council as an alleged “pit bull type”, he has been ordered by the courts to be destroyed and this decision was tragically upheld by the Court of Appeal NI.

Lennox has never harmed anyone; he has been prosecuted based on his appearance-for looking the wrong shape and size under breed specific legislation in NI.

Her Majesty the Queen and all senior politicians are urgently requested to use the Royal Prerogative of Mercy, which we understand starts where the law finishes and applies where a conviction and sentence has been arrived at; Lennox’s family and thousands of supporters worldwide plead for mercy.

We understand that The Royal Prerogative has been applied in NI, being used in the past by the then Northern Ireland Secretary Peter Mandelson and that a Judicial Review IN THE HIGH COURT OF JUSTICE IN NORTHERN IRELAND McGeough’s (Terence) Application [2012] NIQB 11 also examined this power as did a Judicial Review (EWHC 3102 Admin) on 17th Dec. 2008 in the case of Michael Shields before the High Courts of Justice in London. We understand that it should only be exercised where no other remedies exist and that the effect of a pardon is not to quash the conviction but releases the recipient from "all pains, penalties and punishments whatsoever that from the said conviction may ensure".

Please, we beg you, to intervene, order a stay of execution; whilst you investigate an application for clemency and any and all other legal routes to enable Lennox to be exported out of Northern Ireland. Failing that, please insist on a stay of execution so that a clear and transparent investigation is carried out in this case so that this dog is not wrongfully put to death and doubts regarding his current condition are set at rest.

Citizens from all over the world are asking you to restore faith in the judicial system on behalf of the citizens of Northern Ireland.

I beg you to intervene urgently, please order a stay of execution and have this case investigated urgently and any and all avenues to enable the export of Lennox fully reviewed.

My email wasn't nearly as heartfelt as Liz's. I copied/pasted Michelle's letter and changed a few words:

Dear Minister O'Neill,

You have the power to pardon Lennox. I urge you to take note of the international push for his release and re-

homing in the states. Remember, Northern Ireland is an EU member nation and the Belfast City Council

failed to uphold EU sanctioned animal welfare ethics in the treatment of Lennox this past two years.

Photos released display open sores on his body and a severe loss of fur. Behaviorists also noted a neck

injury and bleeding paws. This appalling degradations of health has led some to suggest that the BCC be

investigated. There would be NO tolerance for a human criminal to be neglected in such a horrific way.

Also, the shame and ridicule this travesty of justice has brought upon Northern Ireland in the eyes

of the global community and the ramifications of putting him down in regard to tourism and other economic

matters. Most importantly, I urge you to consider the true evidence that the BCC has thus far ignored: that

Lennox was a gentle therapy dog who harmed not a single living being while in his owner's custody or in the

custody of Belfast wardens, and any evidence to the contrary has been refuted not only by dog

behaviorists and observers, but by the very individuals that deemed Lennox a "dangerous dog" to begin with.

I beg you, Minister O'Neill, to please pardon Lennox and redeem Northern Ireland's position as a nation of

common sense and compassion. In the name of The Father, Son and Holy Ghost please breathe on

Lennox.

Sincerely,

Barb Knight

Noted and sent letters to Agricultural Minister Michelle O'Neil at the above email addresses and to thelordmayorsoffice@belfastcity.gov.uk. as Victoria Stilwell had also recommended.

Sent following letter below. If it can be of help to anyone to modify and use, please feel free to do so.

"I respectfully call upon you to pardon Lennox. Lennox has never harmed anyone in his entire life. In fact, he is a gentle and loving family dog who became a therapy dog to a little girl, Brooke Barnes, a child afflicted with asthma and physical disabilities, who was very much attached to Lennox and consistently relied and depended upon him for her safety and well being. Lennox has never harmed anyone in his entire life. It was very traumatic for the Barnes family to have their dog just seized from them without just cause and then separated from Lennox for two years and during all that time prohibited from visiting him.

It must be noted that Lennox has been sentenced to death only because of the way he looks, and the tragic numbers from the seamstress' tape measure that doomed him as a dog "of type" under the Dangerous Dog Act.

There have been offers made from all over the world to give Lennox a home, and celebrities like Victoria Stilwell and Cesar Millan have offered their help to re-home Lennox.

People from all over the world will be boycotting Northern Ireland because of the BCC and the senior judge’s decisions in this case if this innocent dog is put to death just because of his physical appearance. This would be just plain wrong and a great injustice.

If the BCC spared the life of Lennox and allowed the rehoming of Lennox, it would show Northern Ireland has a compassionate side, and would increase tourism and finally bring a happy ending to such an unjust and heartwrenching situation.

Most Sincerely,

keep us posted! John (Gacy) Jeffrey (Dahmer) John (Wilkes Booth) Ted (Bundy) were all killers. Do we associate any one with the name John, Jeffry, Ted etc as a potential killer? I believe they were all brunettes, so do people with dark hair turn into killers? Lennox's crime was to resemble something which he is not.

This is my letter - got a bit carried away, but it's all the truth.

Dear Ms O’Neill

I am writing from Cape Town on behalf of Lennox, a voiceless, innocent animal that God put on this earth, same as he put you, a human on earth. He has been incarcerated for two years, and that in my eyes and opinion is senseless, barbaric cruelty – where is your love, kindness and compassion towards God’s creatures. Animals were put on earth for humans to be their caretakers, not to be their destroyers, which is what you are if you go ahead with putting him down. What crime did he commit, he is not human with a voice to defend himself. He has been offered numerous kind, loving homes – why will you not allow him to go to one. I don’t understand what he did, and would like you to explain it to me. I am a passionate animal lover, since birth, and I can assure you, that if anyone, and I mean anyone came to take one of my 8 dogs away, they would hang me for that person’s murder. I can appalled, shocked and absolutely speechless that you could have allowed this poor defenceless animal to be locked up for two years already, and now to impose the death penalty on him. What sort of people are you over there – I prayed so hard this weekend for Lennox, I even said to God that I am quite willing to give up my own life to save him, people all over the world are calling for him to go to a kind home and I cannot understand why this is not being allowed. What do you have to prove to the world, if you put him down it will only be one thing – that you are callous, brutal humans, and I am ashamed and sick to my stomach to have Irish descendants.

Please, please, I am begging you, there is nothing I won’t offer up for his safety. Don’t you think two years for this poor animal has been a nightmare, no friends, no humans, appalling conditions, what do you think the world thinks of your people for doing this. Please please spare him, show the world that you are humane and kind people. I believe that there will be a day of Judgment – where all of us will answer for our despicable filthy deeds on earth, not only towards our earth, other humans but to God’s creatures as well. For those that do these wicked deeds, it is not going to be pleasant. Please, look deep into your heart and try and feel what this poor animal has been through, through no fault of his, but because of wicked humans. Help him, you are the only one that can.

I have sent my email, urging that Lennox should be given the chance of a new, happy life. This horrific situation for Lennox is beyond my understanding. He has done nothing wrong and yet, he has been mistreated and imprisoned and, in my opinion, abused under the so-called 'care' of the Northern Irish authorities. My heart truly breaks for this nice boy, and I hope with all of my heart that the powers that be will offer him his chance of a happy life somewhere else. Surely there can be no reason not allow him a happy ending.

LETTER IN LAST DITCH EFFORT TO SAVE LENNOX OUR HERO PUP!
Minister O'Neill:
I know factually that you have the power to pardon Lennox. I Urge you to take note of the international push for his release and re homing in the states. I feel the need to remind you that Northern Ireland is an EU member nation and that the Belfast City Council failed to uphold EU sanctioned animal welfare ethics in the treatment of Lennox this past two years. Photos released display open sores on his body and a severe loss of fur. Behaviorists also noted a neck injury and bleeding paws. This appalling degradation of health has led some to suggest that the BCC be investigated. There would be NO tolerance for a human criminal to be neglected in such a horrific way. When in fact, this dog was never a criminal of any sort, he was simply a dog theorized as detrimental to society. All simply because he resembles a dog that has been unjustly labeled a dangerous animal. Nothing could be further from the truth as one this dog is not a pit bull nor is a pit bull ant different than any other dog. Any and all dogs raised in a home where the animal is treated with love respect and proper training, is a dog that will not possess the nature of a animal of danger to its master nor the public as a whole.

It is only a dog that has been severely mistreated through actions of abuse and aggression that backed into a corner, can only be expected to react in such a vein. This dog has never been designated in any one of these aforementioned categories.

Also, the shame and ridicule this travesty of justice has brought upon Northern Ireland in the eyes of the global community along with the ramifications of putting him down regarding tourism and other economic matters will greatly impact your economical position. Most importantly, I urge you to consider the "true" evidence that the BCC has thus far ignored: One being, that Lennox was a gentle therapy dog who harmed not a single living being while in his owner's custody or in the custody of Belfast wardens, and that any evidence to the contrary, has been refuted, not only by dog behaviorists and professional observers, but by the very individuals that deemed Lennox a "dangerous dog" to begin with.

Please allow the redemption of Northern Ireland's position as a nation of "Common Sense" along with compassion for a dog who has been innocently and wrongfully imprisoned for no crime of any kind and individuals who are ready and waiting to whisk this fog to the States at NO cost to you that can alleviate and resolve this fiasco for all involved!

We have come this far. Please!!! We beg of you Minister O'Neill to pardon Lennox and Allow this innocent animal to live out the rest of his life with those who will ensure his well being and complete and rightful position to live out the remainder of his days as he was, from the start, fully entitled to do!

With my utmost respect and plea, for common sense to rule in this case.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Elaine Al Meqdad

Thank you as well Julia! it's so amazing that you would say exactly what I do! It's to the point in this sick and dying world....That for someone to let you go ahead of them while trying to get out of a gas station back onto the road, I just say a quite prayer for the person and thank God that there is still someone somewhere that thought of someone else (Random act of kindness) guess that's how it got it's name...it's so seldom that it's is seen.

I just changed up the letter that I sent and was thinking last night while crying about this dog, I guess in some ways more than when Hope passed, because at least they got little Hope out of where she was and she had 3 full days of knowing that the people who last laid hands on her were those of love. As they fervently tried to save her. BUT, this case has such an underlying connotation of pure evil behind it as one, we all know Lennox did nothing wrong, the breed is not viscous by nature, this dog was taken from it's family just for barking, (MY GOD, that's how they talk) he is not even a full blooded pit bull (which should never have mattered), he was in his own yard, and the list of atrocities is just beyond astounding, that they have done this to him. This is a complete, in my mind, a renewal of the holocaust. Only now they have gone even lower and tossing animals into the ovens, if you will.

My belief is that we are so detested by so many countries all because we protected ourselves (9-11) that what this feels like is that these people, knowing full well that a woman is paying all the expenditures to get the dog out of their country, incur all cost thereafter for what must be extensively needed mental rehabilitation (A completely broken spirit). YET, because it would be going to the States, there is just a very strong feeling in my gut that they are wanting this dog dead so bad that no matter WHAT they are hell bent at trying to get back at someone, somewhere.....This Julia is beyond my comprehension. The snubbing of their noses at the entire world wide campaign to save one animals life, who is as pure and innocent as the day is long. And this Vendetta could not be more evidenced by the way they have gone to all the extents they have by the entertaining this whole fiasco by one giant lie on this animal....I am speechless and I have my letter just waiting to rip this individual apart with one hell of a tongue lashing should they snub their noses to the finality of Lennox's life. I have been to Ireland and all over the UK more times than double the number of my age and I will in no uncertain terms, boycott these places and tell everyone how horrible these people treated this poor animal, Imagine how they would treat a visitor.

Sorry for the rant, I'm not giving up!!!

Love & Hugs to you always,

Elaine

Emails sent. Thanks Michelle for all you have done to help Lennox. It is disgusting how some humans are so stubborn and stupid. Why can't they just do the right thing and free Lennox? Anyone with only tiny bit of moral would realize that what they are doing to Lennox is just plain wrong!

This situation is utterly SHAMEFUL!!! I cant believe that this council has ANY RIGHT to remove a loved dog innocent of ANY CRIME out of his loving home only then to cause IMMENSE SUFFERING to that dog by mistreating him and cause suffering to his loving and also innocent family????? What is this world coming too????? Arent enough animals eunthanised without going into peoples homes and dragging out beloved pets to put to death???? This council is DISGUSTING and their SHAMEFUL BEHAVIOUR HAS THE WHOLE WORLD WATCHING!!! They need to return LENNOX home and apologise to this family NOW!!! Even here in AUSTRALIA WE ARE WATCHING YOU.PLEASE SAVE LENNOX.

Dogan Ozkan said "noted and signed."

Really? Nice trick, since there's NOTHING TO BE SIGNED.

BTW, Dogan, Lennox is now several days dead.
