Despite a brief moment of possible hope Monday for incarcerated dog Lennox it appears that the Belfast City Council intends to proceed with his destruction. The family are not allowed to visit their dog, but rather "will receive some ashes" in the mail.

FROM EXAMINER.COM:

"The official 'Save Lennox' Facebook page has just released a solemn statement about Lennox's fate:

Official Statement From Lennox's Family:

'We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all again for your messages of support. We are sorry to say at the present time Belfast city council seem to be intent on killing our boy. Despite previous assurances otherwise, we have been denied the opportunity to say goodbye. We have also been told that we cannot collect his body and bring Len home. We have been informed however that we will receive 'some' ashes in the mail.'

The news is a devastating blow to thousands of supporters from across the world who are both stunned and outraged that a dog, innocent of any wrong-doing, will be destroyed.

Sadly, based upon the family's statement, there is even further reason to believe that Lennox may have been killed already - hence the officials' refusal to budge on their ruling...."

" What we do in life, Echoes in Eternity "

Those responsible for being completely lacking of compassion, the ability to do right or listen to the angels of their better nature, if they have chosen to still go through with taking the life of Lennox or have already done so, without any good or justifiable cause, should at the time of their own deaths, be hit with the realization, this was the moment they consigned themselves to an eternity in limbo.

Hey! I STILL BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF GOD!! I have FAITH THAT GOD WILL STILL CREATE THE LENNOX MIRACLE WE'VE ALL BEEN PRAYING FOR!! YOU GUYS MAY BE READY TO GIVE UP, THAT'S OK. BUT NOT ME, NOT BARB KNIGHT!! I JUST SAID A PRAYER THAT GOD WILL NOT ALLOW THIS 'EXECUTION' TO HAPPEN!! NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO GIVE UP; NOW IS THE TIME TO GIVE THANKS TO GOD FOR THE MIRACLES HE'S CREATED THAT WILL LEAD TO LENNOX'S FREEDOM INTO THE LOVIN' ARMS OF A FAMILY WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF HIM!!

Oh God. Please don't let this be true!!! (tears running down my cheeks).

Lennox needs love and attention. He still has a lot of licks to pass out, a lot of playing to do, a lot of sleeping on a soft couch or bed, a lot of good eating, and a lot of love to give his people!!!

Oh my God. My heart is breaking for this poor sweet dog I have never met, but I feel like I know him!!

No frigging words for the Owners of this Special Dog...They left behind a part of their family and choose not to continue to fight for him...WT???????????

For Cotten Picken Sake if it was my Dog, I would be there in a hotel or on the street, homeless, to continue to make sure I got my Best Friend Home...Apparently, Lennox wasn't a part of their family since they GAVE UP....2 years. I would never of left the Country and checked on my Dog each and every day!

But, that is just me~

I am still hoping and praying for a happy ending.Keeping you dear Lennox in my heart and prayers.Thank you Michelle.Liz Xx

The whole scenario makes no sense. I don't mean to be a harbinger of
doom but I have a tendency to look at the facts & the reasoning that is
going on w/ any situation. We know that Lennox has been held in sub-par
conditions for most if not all of the 2 years he has spent in custody. The
attitude on the part of the Belfast City council has been to respond with
such extreme resistance in the face of tens of thousands of supporters
worldwide & the criticism that they will face if they put Lennox down that
it leads, at least me to believe he is already gone. The FACT they will not
allow his owners to see him one last time & that they are deprived the proof of
identification of his body for them to bury is an act of negligence & cruelty
so remiss of emotion & feeling in the face of what has been the most emotional
and gruelingly long of campaigns being fought internationally makes no sense.
That they could possibly want to invite what will be one of the most unwanted
of public attacks in their own city & on the worldwide internet should they go through
with this can only be because they have absolutely no choice. And they have no choice
most likely because the truth is Lennox most probably already died of neglect.
Too admit this would be even worse for their public image than the reasons they
give that Lennox poses a threat to society & therefore they have no choice but
to put him down. All their actions point to a very guilty, slimy, inhumane group
of people who should summarily be dismissed from their positions & have charges
brought against them for this unnecessary drama they have created & put the family
& activists the world over through, the waste of the courts & our time & money & the
fraud committed in a court of law & perpetrated in the public domain. Not one
response made by this council smells of truth. I can only hope I'm wrong.

Please my friends, don't brake down and give up. The Lennox(body) needs to be released, dead or alive. This whole case needs to be examined. They cannot throw ashes of which dog we don'tn know if noone has seen him....a law without prove and evidence that's what't wrong. I would have broken in this prison just to make sure who is telling lies here for my dog. Information is kept behind for those that have the right to know. Who wants to live there? Somebody is covering somebody else trying to silence our globe. Its about Lennox and I'm in pain, but its above all about justice and a system that just broke in front of our eyes. And Barb, I believe humans need to work harder to make things right in all the wrong, but you are right; don't give up people: its not just neglect toward Lennox its also neglecting people, the family and a whole lot of others by now. The stories don't make anyone there thrust worthy. Who was the last expert there and when....keep questioning the situation. write, this ain't over.

I feel so heartbroken and want to believe in the best outcome, but am at the point, where one minute there is a brief bit of light and then..back to darkness. I have to agree with Leslie's remarks because none of this makes sense. How can any group of people be so cruel and merciless towards an animal who did no harm..even in the face of such a public outcry. If in the end he is alive and is spared....we will breathe a sigh of deep relief and maybe remember how to sleep again. If not...I hope this is not forgotten and that there will be such an uproar that Belfast has never seen in their lives and the rotten bastards who doled out the death sentence should beware and shudder when the time comes to meet their maker. In the end....it goes to show that no matter where...we have to fight hard..and I don't mean just signing a petition and moving along. We need laws that protect the lives of our animals and saves them from the wanton cruelty, neglect and murder which has become so common place....as in the case of Lennox.

I too think that something highly suspicious is going on. There is no sense or reason to making themselves international pariahs - the bad publicity alone will have overwhelming effects on Northern Ireland and particularly Belfast. The Lord Mayor's office reaction to my email yesterday was 'deleted without being read'.
Public servants have a duty to answer all enquiries and they are all ignoring everyone. Neither can I see that it is legal not to allow the owners to see their dog.The whole thing stinks. I too would like to know when the last person who could ID Lennox actually saw him.

My hope is that dear sweet Lennox is at peace now wherever he is, though I believe these filthy monsters did this a while back. I hope and pray that every last one of these pieces of garbage and their families will suffer the most horrible misery and death from now on. I’m just heartbroken to hear this statement from the family! The behavior of the BCC and their evasiveness about meeting with Victoria Stilwell and others, as well as barring the family from visits with Lennox, and their intransigence about letting Lennox live and be rehomed rather than to euthanize him is deeply troubling. Refusing the family a final visit with their dog and then saying they wouldn’t even allow the family to have Lennox’s body, and saying that they might receive some ashes in the mail! This is utterly heartless and totally without precedent.

There's something very wrong about this situation and it seems that there’s a cover up here! Belfast City Council doesn't even want the family to be their while their own dog is unjustly euthanized! Is it because they don't want the Barnes family or anyone else to know that Lennox had an injury that they caused? The BCC is rife with dishonesty, moral corruption, and terrible abuse of power! What a bunch of totally rotten and despicable people they are.

"Speaking to her co-host about Lennox’s skin condition whilst in the so called care of Belfast City Council, Victoria Stilwell stated that she was “shocked” after studying the assessment video by expert behaviourist Sarah Fisher. Victoria also explained how Lennox has a neck injury which Sarah Fisher also picked up on during her assessment of Lennox and along with bleeding from around the nail bed on one of his paws which David Ryan had also noted remains untreated by Belfast City Council to this day. Its now at this point people reading should note that Lennox had no injuries anywhere on his body before his seizure except a small scar from his neutering operation many years previous. Lennox’s condition shortly after seizure by Belfast City Council was also noted and mentioned by council dog wardens in their statements from which he was described as a dog in good health, after an apparent check over by a council contracted vet. Its unknown how Lennox’s neck and foot injury were obtained but one thing that is certain is that Lennox had none of these injuries prior to his seizure nor was he covered in massive bald patches or open sores. Lennox is being allowed to go without any proper medical attention, there’s simply no words or excuse for allowing this to happen and Belfast City Council can put whatever twist they want on this, it’s down right abusive and its cruel!”

It is obvious that Lennox wasn’t receiving proper medical attention for his skin condition by the BCC. But, what about the neck injury? Why did Lennox have a neck injury?! As Victoria Stilwell states, "Many respectable veterinarians or those who are very knowledgeable of animal anatomy can explain that such a neck injury in a dog can come about by means of being pulled or yanked at force whilst having a chain type collar, heavy rope or even a catch pole placed around their necks and of course such injuries may come about due to simple rough play but many people already know and realise that given Lennox’s condition already most are sure Lennox hasn’t seen any form of play since his happy days at home with his family.

Could this be why the BCC is so reluctant to spare the life of Lennox and accept an offer to rehome him?
Because they might have caused a neck injury to Lennox and maybe this is why Lennox wasn’t being taken to a vet because they didn’t want the vet to notice, treat, or document this injury? When did this injury happen? As Victoria Stilwell says, it happened sometime after Lennox was in the care of the BCC. Is this why they won’t let Lennox live and be rehomed in the U.S.? And was this why they wouldn’t allow the Barnes family to visit Lennox? And is this also why they won’t let the family have Lennox’s body, or be by Lennox’s side to say a final goodbye?
Because they don’t want anyone to know how they injured Lennox. Maybe this is why they have only offered the ashes from Lennox’s cremated body because without Lennox’s body as evidence, no one would ever really know
about the injury they likely had caused.

On July 11, 2012 Lennox lost his life after a two year battle due to Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). We are here to ensure Lennox is remembered, and that he did not die in vain. We are a group of devoted animal lovers who want to see Lennox' Law come to light, and an end to BSL. We are also here to support those going through the same hell as Lennox and his family. We aim to get as many worldwide signatures as possible to present to legislature and get this horrific law abolished. THE BATTLE IS FAR FROM OVER.

From Victoria Stillwell Positively:

"Victoria joined host Wendy Austin on BBC Radio Ulster and sparred with Pat McCarthy, the head of Belfast City Council's (BCC) Environmental Health Committee, just hours after the BCC destroyed Lennox, an American Bulldog/Labrador mix with no history of aggression or behavior issues. The dog was confiscated 2 years ago due not to his aggressive nature, but rather simply because his bodily dimensions fit the profile of supposedly dangerous dogs under Northern Ireland's breed-specific legislation (BSL). Despite pleas from millions around the world, Victoria's offer to rehome Lennox outside the UK, and personal intervention from Northern Ireland's First Minister, the BCC insisted on euthanizing this dog, claiming that they were merely following the law, although they fought tooth and nail to achieve the flawed ruling in the first place."
