One thing we should not forget though: Northern Ireland is NOT the whole Ireland. The Republic of Ireland (EIRE) doesn't even have that stupid discriminatory law that cost Lennox's life in Northern Ireland.

Boycotting also EIRE would not be fair.

I can't help but wonder if our beloved Lennox died awhile back due to neglect. That would answer a lot of questions.
I agree with Julie's comment; the most important thing right now is to make sure the murderers of Lennox PAY. Evil monsters.
Lennox deserves justice and I will do what I can to make sure he gets it.

Noted and signed (#227) with more tears.

Thanks Michelle.

Rest In Peace Lennox...we love you.

I was about to say the same thing, Julie. The Republic of Ireland (Eire) and Northern Ireland (Ulster) are not the same country, believe it or not. Northern Ireland is part of the UK and is under British rule, Ireland is not. I'm not going to penalise Ireland for the heinous crime that Northern Ireland has committed. RIP dear Lennox.

I agree Julie. Thousands of native Northern Irish protesters are appalled at what the BCC did to Lennox and came out in protest en masse the last several days to stage a last battle against his termination.

But this petition in not an inditement against the whole of Northern Ireland. It's a petition against travel and commerce there.

The best place to hit a nation who disregards animal welfare law and commits blatant and heinous crimes against animals is to hit them in the wallet....the tourist wallet. I believe this is the intent of the petition author.

Noted and signed. I appended to the petition the observation that business organizations considering investment in NI might want to mull whether they can really 'do business' with politicians and bureaucrats as obdurate and unscrupulous as they are likely to find on the other side of a boardroom table. I damn well wouldn't.

as long as any being lives in fear, hate, exploitation and death at the hands of man so shall all men live under this same threat, don't fool yourself no one is free as long as another is oppressed. withdraw your consent for as long as we agree to the small things we have agreed to the big ones, the pebble seems so small but its effects are far reaching
protect life, prosecute those that seek to destroy our shared home and our fellow beings
life has value beyond measure

signed and noted...i cried in horror to read that Lennox was put down...and the fact that the family could not even see him one more time or get his collar makes me believe that this probably did happen a while back...the bastards have his blood on their hands forever....and to think the dog did NOTHING wrong but to be born with pit in him....HOW RIDICULOUS!!! may these people suffer for the rest of their eye for an eye...they have not even begun to suffer for this Lennox is at peace and is free....he will see his family again one day....God be with the family at this heart is so broken for the dog and the family...a very very cruel way to be treated....yes, after being locked up for 2 years, wouldn't you have some anxiety and aggression too!!!!

Convinced a co-worker yesterday from not going to Ireland because of this story, and she was sickened by what was happening and doesn't know that Lennox was euthanized. We need to demand that the Belfast Council and all those involved in this decision resign.

I am still in shock and disbelief. I have shed many tears over the last few days for this innocent boy. BCC certainly seemed to have a vendetta against the family of Lennox perhaps because they chose to fight for their family member. I wonder if they killed him earlier either intentionally or by their pathetic treatment of him. It is the only thing that makes sense as to why the family couldn't see him before they murdered him.

Janet R (38)
Thursday July 12, 2012, 6:06 pm
Northern Ireland had Catholic riots today because Protestants were marching in the Orangeman march. This is still a torn, backward country and while I am no way defending the actions of BCC, I think they don't really care about world views of their treatment of Lennox and his family at this time.

Read, noted & signed petition, thanks Michelle. It's hard to believe that in the very birthplace of America's founding fathers, the entire UK, it's illegal to own or have a pit bull terrier or, a dog that even looks like one! That is completely backwards & prejudiced. America has many faults, but so far, in most states & communities, we can still own the pets of our chooosing. Though a lot of places are also getting as stupid as those "across the pond", by banning certain breeds. Why don't they start banning certain people too, that would make more sense. There are NO "bad" dogs, only bad people/owners!! RIP Lennox

Contact Channel 4 UK and let them know a video leaked today showing Lennox to be a playful, socialized, happy well-trained dog while being evaluated by a behaviorist in the presence of dog warden Sandra Lightfoot. I posted the story on the video tonight and sent a mass mail to all the friends on my list. Copy and paste the link to the video when you sent your letter to the Channel 4 news. It's pretty damning.

From Patrizia:

I have just been told that if we send emails requesting investigation INTO BCC that channel 4 will launch one if they get enough requests.

Sample letter, or create your own letter....
Dear sir, madam,

We, concerned people for all over the world, are asking you to please start an investigation into BCC regarding the Lennox case.

We strongly believe things have been covered up and the truth has not been told to the public.

We also believe that Lennox's dog warden, Alexandra Lightfoot, lied under oath, stating
Lennox was the most dangerous dog she had ever met, while video tapes show Lennox licking her face and being submissive to her.

We know we can't bring Lennox back, but we do want to know what really happened in BCC and that the truth will come out.

Justice needs to be done and the truth needs to be told.

Therefor we plead you to investigate this case and bring out a news report.

For Lennox's sake, for all innocent dogs sake.

We thank you.
