Yes Valentina lions are definitely endangered. Certain Aussie friends tell me that 'roo is quite tasty but a Chinese friend tells me that from what she was told, cats are not very good tasting at all. I've eaten lots of things in my travels but never cat.

The lion meat being served in restaurants in the U.S. allegedly comes from lion and tiger breeding farms, which as you all well know, are unregulated in the U.S.

Just because an animal is endangered doesn't mean there aren't idiots in the world that won't stop at sensationalizing their consumption. Japan serves donkey; there's been elephant sushi popping up in Asian food markets/restaurants, monkey is eaten in the Congo, and it's no secret how the French feel about eating horses.

Shows like Andrew Zimmern's "Bizarre Foods" on the Travel Channel just add insult to injury.

As for the above statement that " 'roo is quite tasty but a Chinese friend tells me that from what she was told, cats are not very good tasting at all. I've eaten lots of things in my travels but never cat" it seems oddly out of sync...and out of the animal welfare forum.

Just because you like the "taste" of something doesn't warrant its subsequent objectification and consumption. I'm appalled at this comment, quite frankly.

"UPDATE: Thank you! Late on Friday August 10, the restaurant announced that it will not be serving lion meat. They specifically thanked the polite voices of those of us who disagree. Thank you all for helping to make that happen with this petition and polite phone calls and social media actions. I knew passionate, peaceful voices can come together to help my cause!
BUT I still want the restaurant to cancel the dinner since they are planning on serving meat from exotic animals like kangaroos, alpacas, antelope, and crocodiles, too! This may not be a "lion meat" dinner anymore, but please sign to help if you agree that exotic animals should not be served."

Signed 9,912. Thank you Michelle!
