Feds cleared the way today for a return to domestic horse slaughter by granting a southeastern New Mexico company's application to convert its cattle facility into a horse processing plant. Applications from Iowa and Missouri are soon to follow.

We've got to think of some way to fix our national horse problem. Too many folks are breeding horses for no good reason from inferior stock and then not wanting to take responsibility for the offspring. Myself I'm much more angry hearing about poor animals starved to death because of neglect because the owners no longer want to take care of the animals. In Missouri we even have cases of people putting horses on other people's property.

The cattle/livestock/pro-slaughter groups got their wish. In Missouri the governor will sign the paperwork for horse slaughter. This is sickening. I am really ticked off about this.

What's wrong with this picture?:
"Since Congress has not yet acted to ban horse slaughter inspection, (the agriculture department) is legally required to issue a grant of inspection today to Valley Meats in Roswell, N.M., for equine slaughter," USDA spokeswoman Courtney Rowe said.

168,000 US horses were slaughtered in 2012. What's next, dog meat factories? Truly sad world...
Thank you Michelle!
