I am ecstatic about this - just goes to show, if we stand as one, we can achieve anything. I am happy he was fired - no one should have the right to do these horrible things to innocent animals.

This A-hole should never be allowed to play soccer 4 any club again and should be in jail too. Anyway thrilled this cutie is reunited with his family and now is the Mascot! Love a happy ending--thanks

what upset me is "Our club, to safeguard its human and sporting image, which was deeply damaged by this incomprehensible attitude, has decided to release Jose Antonio Jimenez." So they fired him to save their image, not just because what he did was wrong. Where is their moral sense? Anyway, it is still good that he got punished for what he did.

Glad "Negrita" is okay and safe. The pos that abused her needs to be taken to a tall building and thrown off. Scum like that need to be exterminated, and not allowed to be amongst the innocent.
Thanks, Michelle.

We need much more of this happy ending story. I watched that terrible image on tv here in Italy and in that moment I felt the desire to choke that player!!!!! The most important thing is that Negrita is fine with her owners and that idiot was fired from his soccer club :) Thanks Michelle!

Glad he was fired and the doggie ended up OK after all that. Too bad more sports don't take that view. If so Vick would never have played again.

Negrita is safe, with her family, and now has a lifetime job as the Puerto Rican team's mascot. Wonderful!

Just being kicked off the soccer team in my view is not enough, but I guess it will have to do. José Jiménez will likely feel some repercussions for sometime ie employment etc. He obviously has an anger management issues or just plain lousy judgement skills.

Good news - though as others say it should be more. At least the soccer team realised that it should do something - so that is progress.

Noted, tweeted, shared. Happy the doggy is okay; happy that the soccer player was fired; maybe, he learned a lesson and will not be cruel to animals because society doesn't like people who hurt animals. I am sure he is still rotten, but he might not do it again because he doesn't want to be punished.
