Thanks for bringing this up. Signed and hopeful that chickens someday no longer hold the title of most abused animal on the planet.

It accepted my signature as well but it won't be counted if you are not from the UK and I'm from Australia so I think its going to count.

Thank you for taking part in this action. Please let us know if you receive a reply from Defra.

I’ve just taken part in an urgent action as part of the RSPCA’s ‘Quash the Squash’ campaign to prevent a backward step for chicken welfare in England.

Noted! Signed the petition using my USA postal code - there's no reason to start doing More damage or behaving More badly, ever. The whole point to human life is a journey of continuous improvement - we are called to our better natures or better angels by the best of us and the best in us. We can't slide backwards after all this work to go forward. I hope they refuse to make the standards more cruel and continue to improve them!
Thanks for the story link and the opportunity to speak against sliding backwards.

Can't sign it Tierney, I'm sorry! I don't believe that chickens should be in cages, period, but if you find a petition comdemning confinement, please let me know and I'll be happy to endorse that request!

By the way, to 'quash' something means to 'do away with' it! (in case you still weren't quite sure!) In this case unfortunately, the petition doesn't appear to be trying to 'quash' the factory farming of chickens, but to quash only the barbaric attempt to squeeze more birds in to an already torturously limited area. Criminal!

My opinion is that all chickens should be free roaming.... free range.. I cannot stand the ay these poor birds are kept in prisons... we should relaly start a boycott of these farms and make allowed noise so that they know that we mean business.. That is why our food is making us so sick.. we are reaping what we sow and that is the sad reality of it to

It would do good for those of torture to switch places and be caged and cramped. Would serve them right, when they have no right to do cause pain to others.

Nan - that's why I tell people they should visit their local jail and see the caged humans and what it does to them...puts a face on the idea that being in a cage is "OK" for other animals but "prison" for humans. It's prison and torture for any creature, and the chickens certainly aren't criminals and certainly don't belong in cages!
