Thank you for signing the petition "Governor Pat Quinn, Illinois: Continue nursing services for Patrick Stein." Thanks AniMae for forwarding. A removal of the tracheostomy tube should not of made such a drastic change in his care. Reading stories like this just disgust me and deeply sadden me. We need Universal Health Care badly in this Country.

Shared on FB. Thanks Maricruz and AniMaeChi for the forward.
The Illinois’ Department of Healthcare and Family Services has confirmed that the state will continue to cover in-home nursing care for Patrick Stein. The state was previously planning to stop Patrick’s home nursing care on July 16th, but it reversed its decision after more than 105,000 people signed Mary Jo Harte's petition. Patrick’s parents, Colleen and Nick Stein, said, “We are so grateful to Change.org and all the tens of thousands of people who took time to learn about Patrick’s situation and sign the petition. Thank you for giving our son a voice.” Mary Jo, Patrick's former nurse, said, “There are not words to adequately express our gratitude to Governor Quinn. When you are dealing with a large state system and the inherent bureaucracy, you sometimes lose hope that an individual within that system ever really heard you. Governor Quinn heard us. He listened to Patrick.”
