*Breaking News:*

Tuesday, April 15, 2008, Guwahati

A senior Assam veterinary professional Mr. Shivaji Baruah was arrested by
the Police today on charges of poaching a Deer in the campus of Assam
Veterinary College and Animal Husbandry in Khanapara, Guwahati.

It may be noted that Mr. Baruah in the past has served for 15 years in the
World Heritage site Manas National park of Assam.

The arrest of Mr. Baruah is a big setback to the wildlife conservation
efforts in Assam.
In the afternoon Mr. Baruah is to be produced at the court. He is presently
under police custody at the Dispur Police station in the city.
