Kindly refer to the complaint submitted by Ms. Sonia Ghosh to the SHO, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi on dated 8-7-08 about the crime. Yesterday I have spoken to the Ld DCP & SHO concerned but now I am in the opinion that Police is not going to lodge an FIR against the culprits u/s 428-429-201 IPC's read with the PCA Act, 1960, where as when the dead body of the killed dogs was destroyed willingly after killing then this act may be read with the section 201 IPC.
Hence you are requested to direct the concerned SHO to lodge an FIR with out any further delay.

Noted & Signed. I will forward this TY.
I read this petition and cannot understand how people could do this to a poor defenceless dog. That this animal could go through so much agony till it died. But that the authorities did nothing. Disgusting.

The need of the hour is to get the various police complaints converted into an FIR and press for the arrest of Yoronsu. The Warden has already forwarded eyewitness accounts of some students, written and signed, to the Proctor. When we met the DCP we told her this but as far as I know, neither has the Proctor handed over these eyewitness accounts to the police, nor has the police made any effort to procure them. The crucial factor is police inaction. They are already in possession of 6 police complaints on this issue, one of them from the Warden, one from a student and neighbor of Yoronsu, two from Naresh Kadyan and two from me. At this stage, we should increase our pressure on the police (through phone calls, emails and RTIs addresses to them) to act on the complaints, record the statements of eyewitnesses, convert the complaints into an FIR and most importantly, arrest the guilty. We should also tell the Proctor to immediately hand over the eyewitness accounts of the students (submitted by the Warden) to the police. Please email him with this request.

Noted and thanks for story Lyn. This is the same story about the stray dog, Kali, that I signed on different petition recently. See some of the details below:

JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) & other educational institutions in India.
Sponsored by:
Jasmine Grewal

On the 8th of July 2008 at 2 am in the morning an 8 year old female dog was butchered by 1 student from JNU , Yoronso (Ph.d student from JNU's School of Social Science, (Centre for Political Studies)) and his two friends in Room #248 in the Kaveri hostel of JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) in New Delhi, India. She was beaten with a cricket bat and a curtain rod for an hour and then they started to cut her open while she was still alive. Due to the noise and blood gushing out from under the door the people in the hostel got alarmed, and the students and wardens intervened. The dog's name was Kali.

Noted. Petition signed. Thanks Naresh and Lyn. These inhumane students deserve to be in jail, not at university. They are a danger to society.
