Petition signed, will send Soi Dog another donation tonight :) Thanks Kim for posting this and for everyone who signed. Just last week, there was another capture on dog transporation across Thailand border (destination Vietnam). About 200 dogs were saved from being tortured and slaughtered.

In some countries they eat grubs and insects, others monkeys, yet others seals, etc. In parts of Asia they eat cats and dogs. In Western countries they eat calves and lambs (baby animals), horses, rabbits and wild birds. I've seen Kangaroo and Ostrich steaks in some butchers too.
Just because we consider cats and dogs as pets doesn't mean we should impose our ways on countries who have other traditions.
Of course I'm against eating cats and dogs, but I don't eat any meat - can all the other people protesting here say the same? If you eat any meat at all then you have no right to say what kind of animal meat other countries have a right to consume.
Look to your own habits before attacking your neighbour's.

Before I start getting comments on the horrific slaying methods (the video didn't work so thankfully I probably was saved from seeing the worst) things are not so marvellous in Western abattoirs either, not to mention chicken factories and slaughter houses. I've seen photos of chickens in upside down rows on a conveyor belt which cuts their heads off in turn, and live cows hanging upside down tied by one leg. It's disgusting and how anyone can eat meat knowing all this is beyond my comprehension. And for those of you who didn't already know, then find out! Put a stop to the butchery in your own towns and country before giving lessons and orders to others. It's too easy to condemn what happens elsewhere rather than opening our eyes to what's going on under our very noses.

Sam made a good point above....We are so angry and disgusted at whats happening in another country when it may be totally normal to them. Of course it doesnt make it right but look at what is happening here!
I DIDNT KNOW until last year the horrors that are happening in factory farms, so we need to get it out for everyone to know. Ive educated a few people and they were horrified also. Just because they are not dogs and cats doesnt make it acceptable or right. These animals are TORTURED their WHOLE LIVES and then are butchered alive also.

These cows and piggies and chickens are born to die and the way they die is not pretty. They ARE butchered while alive and conscious. Do you think the farmers will waste money to euthanize them first? They are not seen as living breathing creatures who LOVE and feel pain. Ive seen cows strung up by one leg and butchered while it was still alive also...the chickens scalded and having their beaks cut off for whatever stupid reason..what about the horn burned off cows for NO REASON other than workers safety...screw the workers..maybe if they treated them better they wouldnt have anything to fear......the ducks being forcefed until they explode... male chickies are thrown into grinders cuz they are considered useless..baby piglets are smashed against a table for whatever reason...turkeys and chickens bashed against the wall or tromped on..ALL for money and it needs to stop!

Sorry, but I had to come back and remind people that its happening here too. they may not be Fido, but they just as intelligent and feel pain and can LOVE. Thanks and Thanks Kim!

Great comments from Sam and Gina. Animal torture of any kind is NOT acceptable. I STRONGLY oppose what's going on in factory farms as well. They're number 2 on my hit list. True hell on Earth for any unfortunate animal that finds itself in one. Empathy towards animals is getting harder and harder to find. So many people that "don't wanna hear about it". What they don't know won't upset them. God forbid THAT should happen. People need to open their ignorant eyes and take a look around. Being oblivious is no excuse. These horrors are happening to millions of innocent, pain feeling animals every single day. MILLIONS!! I wish I could afford to get into John Doe's living room with some in your face TV commercials. I totally agree Kim, this is not about 'we eat cows so we should not condemn anyone for eating dogs', it is about how they go about treating the animals and then slaughtering them.

But in response to Sam, I do condemn my own country for it's treatment of animals in the farm industry, this is not about 'people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones', blimey, if we had to check our own countries indiscretions before commenting on another, Care2 may as well shut down because no-one would have the rights to say anything.

I have the rights to fight against what is happening in other countries, that is what makes me different to animals; I have a voice and I am not afraid to use it!

I TOTALLY agree with you Kim...People just DONT want to know or just dont care..Ive had people tell me they dont want to hear about it, they dont want to think about it and they wont give up their meat. I suggested that "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian" video. I cant get past the first minute..

I was at the store trying to decide if i should try rice, almond or soy milk (Ive heard some bad things about soy) and I asked someone if they have tried any of the them and if you can use them with cereal. They told me to get fat free milk and I was explaining why I dont want to buy dairy milk anymore because of what the cows go through, and these two women looked at eachother, rolled their eyes and walked away laughing. I just wanted to scream at them WTF dont you have a damn heart? Cows suffer the most out of all the animals and they thought it was funny that I didnt want to contribute to it anymore. Its so disgusting..

Like you Kim, I wish I was rich (although I wouldnt stay rich long, cuz Id be donating everywhere, LOL) so I could make commercials with factory farm animals..BIG AG would FLIP OUT but ONE commercial would be planting a seed and Im angry and disgusted that this hasnt been done yet. WHY?? (Payoffs is my guess)...

Hi Gina, we too have tried to find an alternative for milk for exactly the same reason, we have tried, soya, oat, hemp, rice and almond, they are all great for cereal and for mixing in foods (cakes for example) in small quantities, but we haven't found them very nice to drink and they are not at all nice in tea or coffee.... in our opinion.

We now only drink organic milk, I know that many vegans will scoff at that, but we have looked into it and found a brand which we feel is better than most https://www.yeovalley.co.uk/the-family/the-cows You can also visit this farm so they must feel that their treatment of their cows is what the public would be happy with.

Unfortunately they are in the UK and I see that you are not, but it may be worth you looking into organic suppliers and seeing if you can find one which you are happy with, obviously only if you can't get on with a milk alternative.

I think it is disgusting that those two women laughed, they are the sort of people that you want to take to a dairy farm and tape their eyes open so they can see if they still feel like laughing; ignorant.

Gina, you may be able to do a search for organic brands in the U.S. Here in Canada we have Natrel which comes from Agropur certified farms, it's organic and they promote excellent animal welfare. It can even be found at evil Walmart here! Maybe it's in the U.S. as well?? Here's the link if you'd like to check it out..http://www.natrel.ca/en/products/

As to those ignorant women in the supermarket...I can't say what I'd like to do to those eye rollers. I'm with Alison, tape their eyes open and see what they think about places like Conklin "farms" and the baby killers. They'd be puking in horror instead of laughing.
