Sadly I think you're right. I dread to think what sort of world our descendants are going to have to live in. Noted, thanks.

It's only a little bit of Nature which is destroyed every day.
But soon these small bits will add up to the whole of it.

Only after the last tree has been cut down
Only after the last fish has been caught
Only after the last river has been poisoned
Only then will you find money cannot be eaten
Cree Prophecy

Every part of the earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every meadow, every humming insect. All are holy in the memory and experience of my people.

We know the sap which courses through the trees as we know the blood that courses through our veins. We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters. The bear, the deer, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the dew in the meadow, the body heat of the pony, and man all belong to the same family.

The shining water that moves in the streams and rivers is not just water, but the blood of our ancestors. If we sell you our land, you must remember that it is sacred. Each glossy reflection in the clear waters of the lakes tells of events and memories in the life of my people. The water's murmur is the voice of my father's father.

The rivers are our brothers. They quench our thirst. They carry our canoes and feed our children. So you must give the rivers the kindness that you would give any brother.

Will you teach your children what we have taught our children? That the earth is our mother? What befalls the earth befalls all the sons of the earth.

This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.

Well , I have to say their must be others that care , I'm not sure I know that many in real life that care as deeply
as what I've seen here on Care2 , Out of about fifteen other families in our neighborhood there is only one
other than myself that is truly aware and does care to conserve , compost and create less waste .
And recycle of course most do , But as we know many of the plastics especially the plastic caps aren't
recyclable but consumers are still buying the products .
So I for one will still forgo the convenience of the trash can and compost , And forgo the hose to use the rain barrels , Even in winter they are quite handy !
And I will still care , Thank you Arthur for a pleasant reminder .

Beautiful video - and thank you, Dandelion, for those wise words from Chief Seattle. My theory is that if you are not willing to fight to change what you don't like, you can't complain.... so we must all continue fighting...

I Do CARE what happens, and fitting song. Actually, I was thinking about Ken Salazar when I was listening. LISTEN, an older song with a message and sadly, the Ocean is full of JUNK, Earth is hurting, people are in need.

Always liked this song, especially when his drums roar in!
The last thing that anyone can say in a last ditch effort to be right, when they have tried and failed at something, is 'I don't care'. (actually a level below that is 'I don't care that I don't care'. I know people like this. It's called APATHY. And that is someone who is almost in the grave. Who doesn't care the most? A dead man. He don't care 'bout nothin'.
Apathy is a very very low level of existence. It is extremely dangerous because someone could be drowning and a person in apathy would let him drown. He's supremely untrustworthy. He may tell you he's 'happy' now that he doesn't care. Things 'don't bother me'. It's his 'solution' to not being able (he believes) to do something. IF HE COULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT HE WOULD NOT BE IN APATHY ANYMORE ABOUT IT.
People in apathy easily think about suicide. A person in apathy easily would let all humanity perish (large scale suicide you might say).

The PCUSA cares so much that it added the first new season of the church in over a thousand years to its calendar on 2011. I have cared for decades and am finding more people making earth-friendly choices based on factual information every day when in the beginning so few seemed to know anything. It is progress, but I hope it can go faster with greater impact towards saving the earth and all who dwell upon it than I've seen in the past/

You got it right, Arthur . . . I don't even think that caring is a choice. (You either do, or you don't.)

But, I know that I DO! (And I love people, like you, who wouldn't know why to get up in the morning if they didn't.)

You're on the right site and the right side.

Thanks for this post. (Sometimes we all get down and need a reminder of the beauty of compassion.)

We are caught between fear, apathy and a sense of paralysis, we care, but have lost that sense of community that brings all of our concerns to the table. Whether we take part in Occupy or a blockade to stop the pipeline from Canada, there is still evidence that people do care. Does Washington DC care? Do each of our elected or appointed officials and leaders care? If care and concern are demonstrated by the efforts to enact legislation to protect the people than I guess the answer is no. That does not mean that WE (the collective) do not care, I believe we all care, we all are moved to want to make things to be better. We try, sometimes we flounder in those efforts, but we keep trying, that is our human spirit, our empathy for each other.

Never give up and never give in - we keep fighting!

Believe we can make a better world, keep trying and we will.

Wow Arthur thanks for your powerful post and heartfelt message..! Your love, caring, and passion for our beautiful mother earth and all her creatures enriches everyone that you touch....
This video is so breathtaking in it's birds eye view of our home..... I was all "eyes full of water" as I watched it in the context of so many who don't care.... Many do care however and we keep passing along that passion for what is good, for what is beautiful, for what is right action...... Every kindness makes a difference...every prayer...helps keep this world in balance. We all have a part to play. I'm thankful for your strength of spirit!!

A majority of the people in Care 2 do care is the reason why we are here.

We care about what is happening with people, with animals and with the Beautiful Planet called Earth.

Enjoyed the breathtaking video.

Check out the BBC Earth series of videos done of our Planet. Just simply awesome, breathtaking and beautiful.
Planet Earth. The Blue Planet. Frozen Planet and others

My copies that I watch come from the local public library.

Wow Arthur! You really know how to post em! As so many others here have said, I do care and I will fight to my very last breath to protect Mother Earth and all of her inhabitants. I will sign, share, tweet, annoy the hell out of people just to get them to listen and learn. I will do everything in my power to educate as many as I can that we are on our last legs and if they don't sit up and do something then they are helping to dig a mass grave for all of us. I look around at the people that I know and it just kills me that they are so unwilling to believe just how close we are to losing everything. I try to talk to them but it is like talking to a brick wall. I used to post everything on Facebook to get people involved in solutions and to take action and not one person ever signed anything and in fact several people blocked me. If there is one thing I believe, it is that all of us here on Care2 are deeply committed to making this world a better, safer, animal friendly, protected planet. WE DO CARE! AND WE WILL ALL FIGHT TO MAKE THINGS CHANGE FOR THE BETTER COME HELL OR HIGH WATER! Thank you for showing us your heart, courage, passion and love Arthur.

This was so very appreciated Arthur. I believe in my heart, that there is good and caring in most people. Yes, we may stumble along the way in our paths, wherever they may bring us. We have to try harder to make the important changes that are needed to heal our precious environment and planet---if we can do this, we just may heal our souls in the process, for they are connected.~ Thank you so much again, my dear friend!~

Unfortunately, we humans, destroyed Mother Earth.
Because of greed and avarice.
Because of money and influence.
Because of ignorance.
No right to do so.
Because we do not live alone, on this earth.
I saw with deep sad . Thanks Arthur .

I think our attitude concerning conservation and our environment is still driven by the ancient belief that our world is a vast and inexhaustible resource. The fact is that it's very small and limited. If the Earth were to be reduced to the size of an apple, the atmosphere would be about the thickness of that apples skin. The total amount of water as a percentage of all the mass that makes up our planet is estimated at 0.023%; that's 2.3 one-hundredths of one percent!

Our planet is a rare and tiny oasis in the vast inhospitable cosmos. It's the only place where we can presently survive. If we pollute it and use up its resources, there is nowhere else to go.....we will perish along with the rest of the animals we have helped to make extinct.

It's not a question of aesthetics or even morality. It has become a matter of survival.

Thanks Arthur!

Thanks, but I DO CARE!!!! There are so many defenseless, innocent creatures on our planet, how is it possible not to care?? People who don't care are very selfish, and indifferent to the suffering of other living beings; in this way, they are participating in this, indirectly, that's my opinion. Thanks.

Thank you Arthur. I have to believe that the vast majority of people on CARE2 do care...at least those of us who are active. I just turned 74 yesterday and even though a lot of my body parts are man-made (one leg, one knee, and one shoulder) I will keep on caring and working hard to prove that I do. We are all one, therefore what happens to one, happens to all. Or as Red Green said "We're all in this together. Keep you stick on the ice".

The world of today must strive to make a better world for tomorrow, the past is gone, let today be constructive for a better tomorrow. We must make sure that the children of today do not make the same mistakes or continue in the ways of wastefulness due to political greed, company profits and just plain ignorance that is wasting away our world.

I enjoyed watching the video and how the majority of it was filmed high above the ground. I saw a lot of beauty. I saw things that I had never seen before and I was in awe. I loved the music and I ignored the I Don't Care Anymore words.
I really enjoyed all the comments. I am a proud member here at Care2.

Wow, didn't expect all of your outstanding comments. While I am aware that Phil Collins did not make this song for Mother Earth, but in searching for something powerful I ran across this and Ken, Yes Love it when the drums come in. The song is about a human friend, but when I caught it set to nature, just had to share.
