Edward Gardner showed us by his unselfish kindness to lay his life on the line for the tiniest of life! It is high time we start respecting & protecting all lives just as precious as we treasure our very own existence! I always say "only do to other living beings what we are prepared to experience ourselves!" A True Hero, RIP Edward Gardner! There is no greater LOVE then to lay down your life for another being! Very emotional story, my tears are flowing for the lost Hero, but Heaven gained another Angel to watch over all creature GREAT & SMALL! Thanks Sue.

A cause to give your lilfe for? only if it gives a significant message to others who can perpetuate the cause which is not to create a traffic accident.

What about the person who could not avert the tragedy? Or who might have caused an even greateer tragedy if s/he had tried to avert the killing. For the rest of his/her life that person, whoever it may have been, no matter how wonderful a wife, mother, 16 year old daughter, whoever it might have been, will have to live with a memory of horror for the rest of their lives.

Where is Lady Wisdom?

The cause is to love and give to all of life, no matter how insignificant it may seem. It is not to cause greater harm.

Life is one. We are one. What is the greatest good for the greatest number.

It could be saving a family of ducks if others take the essence of the message and make it live!

Kudos to a true hero!! Three cheers to him for helping the ducks!! I had the same thing happen here. I managed to save all the little ducklings before the cars came roaring down the highway. Almost didn't make it but I caught all of them, I know what must have been going through his mind. Save them no matter what!! I'm soooo sad to hear it cost him his life. Drivers need to be a lot more alert to what's going on around them and slow down!!!!! Thanks Sue

Eddie seemed to have such a loving face, so at peace with the wolf behind him. It is so wonderful that a memorial will be given to a true hero. His spirit will be on their feathers as they fly. Rest in Peace Eddie, I would be honored to meet you on the other side.

In the Catholic tradition, one who dies in another's place is considered a "martyr of love." It is such a special kind of death, because it is completely selfless, and mirrors the love God has for us. Mr. Gardner died in the most purest way possible, and I can only hope that I will be offered the same kind of honor when it is my time. As animal activists, we try to live each day as fully for their welfare and causes as we can. It would be a special grace for us to die as we have lived. God bless you Mr. Gardner, and may your family find peace in your example of love. Please watch over all of us, and help us not to miss one single opportunity to save a life.
