In my opinion Craigslist should ban postings for free rescue pets. There are simply too many horrible people with bad intentions seeing these postings. Case in point is the man who murdered Kiya! I understand from the article that there is a reward out for him - when he is caught he must go straight to jail!! At that it still won't make up for the horrendous abuse caused to this beautiful dog.

I am very sorry about Doe but I don't know if CL is controllable. I will continue to support preventing animal adoptions on the site but I have a feeling it's not going to stop. For one thing many good people have adopted pets they love and care for from the site.

I just posted on the other news post that It's awful and quite obvious that this guy has absokutely NO morals. He does not care! This is not a business decision. It makes no sense and seems pretty simple to do.. I feel it would not ruin their website to remove a free Pet or any animal section. There's something seriously wrong with this guy....... He truly does not give a dam*!! That poor dog went through hel*. Who would continue to allow this and not do everything in their power to try and stop it from happening on his website. There is something wrong with him.

Noted..This makes him as culpable as the POS that committed this atrocity. Boycott Craigslist, when they don't follow ethics, hit them in the pocketbook. That they seem to grasp!

This is a problem that unfortunately will probably still exist. Unless there is a way to screen whoever wants to adopt a pet, I don't know how it can be prevented. I have found pets through craigslist, so not everyone looking for a pet is a monster....just perhaps hard to distinguish. Maybe people with the pitbull type breeds need to take their pet to an animal shelter that would be able to screen prospective buyers a little more closely.

You see where this companies priorities are. Its all about money if they can make a buck on human or animals they will post it. I have never used CL and never will. Posting animals is just wrong. you have no way of knowing who you are giving them to. Let a shelter or rescue group even better take them and find a home that has been checked out. Background checks are done, research to see if they are or ever have given up an animal, yes like you who may use CL, I know we wont adopt to anyone who has. IF you can give up an animal who is part of your family you could be the cause of the abuse and horrific torture of your pet. You owe it to them to find the RIGHt home a home that will love them unlike you who is giving them up. IF you give up an animal you dont or shouldnt get one ever!

Every time I see an ad for a free pet, I email them information about this problem and offer helpful alternatives, such as rescue organizations or no-kill shelters in their area. I believe this could be a bit more effective. Some people just aren't aware (or as aware as we are).
