Christianity Is Communism

For a Christian to claim to be not only anti-Marxist but anti-Marx as well, it is probably owing to not having read all of Marx, and the repugnance is a symptom of simple ignorance. But when all is said and done I do not really care.

I may have first began understanding the words, "From each according to his ability to each according to his needs," as being from Engels, but as the article points out its what the 1st saints did in Acts when they held all things in common, claiming nothing as their own. I relate Lennon's Imagine a brotherhood of mankind towards that end. Doubt Lennon wanted more laws to get us there, as I don't either. It may very well end up that it will take less laws, (hard to explain what I mean with that.) so as to create a more compassionate society. I would focus on things that would empower communities to take care of themselves. Well, as Lennon sang in "Imagine no processions I wonder if you could, while that don't seem possible to me.

I love the headline.....never thought of it that way, but its a reasonable comparison...of course I like the concept of communism/socialism...the community working together for everyone......if it just worked in reality

So now we know it! Makes America's pathologic fear of communism quite the joke and/or lie, does it not!
(Luke in German is Lukas, and this revelation here I'd like to call another "Lukas-paradox", although that of course is actually something different and a different Lukas, but still somehow related)

Removing laws is just the opposite of what I think will help the world change in better ways. The laws in America just need to be "different" laws. For instance, the Citizens United SCOTUS decision is a travesty and should be rescinded immediately. The 5 who voted for it should be impeached with no further debate, IMO! I agree with Angelika, too. America's fear of communism or socialism (especially democratic socialism) is very pathological. I'm an American who'd like to live in a sane world. Such a world is not foreseeable in my lifetime, unfortunately. But we keep on and must keep hope that saner heads will prevail eventually. Thanks, Michael, for keeping on. Say hi to the Lemon Minister for me!

I think it is more like Socialism than Communism, but it really isn't either. In Communism, the state has the power to hand out what it feels should be handed out, with one ruler at the helm. Communism requires that all means of production be controlled by the state. In other words, no one can own his or her own business or produce his or her own goods because the state owns everything. And THAT is why the corporate world is terrified of Communism. They fear Socialism because Socialism is an economic and political system where the workers control the means of production, such as machinery or farmland, instead of their bosses. But Jesus said, "Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." That isn't Communism. And it isn't Socialism. That is separation of church and state.

Christianity (as in "the teachings of christ") has very little similarity, could actually hardly be more contrary to "Christianity" (what the christian church, esp. the popel & cohorts, are involved in)
" I am a socialist. " -- E. Fromm; and so am I (and 'proud' of it) (except for the caveats that this word has been abused until it is now nearly useless and devoid of meaning and that all sentences with any form of 'to be' 'are' wrong

" What in America we call "socialism" --a word that means abhorrent-- to me is no "ism." It is what humans do. We have always known that we have TO TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER. We would not have survived for a hundred and more thousand years if we hadn’t taken care of each other. [my CAPS]" -- robert wolff

In no way do I see the State being in control of making a brotherhood of mankind sharing all of the world. That sharing is what my vision is though. The State could loosen some screws to empower communities to take care of themselves at local levels. Both the USA's Govt. control, is failing just as Russia and China's... is proving. The State could help with setting up local Public Banks, which could invest in getting worker owned companies off of the ground, which would be good jobs for those who wanted them, Then I can see good local stuff like shelters and food pantries, which looks like this generation will always need. I believe the founders saw a need for the Post Office, and would still wanted needed things. But nothing will ever change for the lasting better, until Foreign Empire is ended.

I agree with Deb. I think Christianity is more akin to socialism than communism. I can see how they arrived at their conclusion though.

People do have different labels or definitions and such to different terms. In no way do I think the Lamb was thinking of our authoritarian or totalitarian ways we have now, from either the USA, Russia or China.

I am a Socialist, and an Agnostic. Until there are no more 'religions', there will always be those who 'interpret the 'Bible' (warp it to their benefit and meaning) as they see fit to control the population(s). Until there are no more Empires, be they American, Chinese, Russian or otherwise, there will never be peace nor plenty for the matter what. GREED always rules and in the end always brings down Empires.

To me, if Jesus existed at all, he was the true form of Socialism.

Terrie, if the lamb were a man today he would be a man very much like a man like Arlo Guthrie, am all around kid from New York City. Who is the Ancient of Days in Daniel 7 with the hair like wool?

If Michael of Daniel 12:1, the child of Revelations 12, was a man today, he would be that all around kid, far from the big apple.

Who are those 2 olive branches of Revelation 11, who the powers that be may yet end up killing.

John Lennon was more than is widely understood.

It's interesting how both Christianity and Communism preached sharing, only to go astray and become very oppressive.

thanks Michael. I have always had this opinion, that Christianity and socialism is connected at least in principle.

An anthropologist thought he would test these African children. He placed a bowl of fruit underneath a tree and told them that the first one to reach the tree could have the fruit. When he told the children to run, they all took each others' hands and ran together. They all enjoyed the fruit together. This is the African concept of Ubuntu. In my opinion, it is also why Africa is preyed upon by the vultures untamed and let loose by other cultures.

When asked why they didn't run the course alone, they answered, UBUNTU! How can we be happy when others are sad?

UBUNTU in Xhosa is roughly translated, "I am because we are."

I found this on an African website and wanted to share it with you.

Now, if we could just get rid of those vultures.

Thanks Jane, all news about worker owned companies always helps me to relax from the insanity with a smile. Its perfectly clear what is going on, as it is clear worker owned companies are the way to restore blue collar America to be able to take care if itself. Sorry to say that 20 years after we were told we won the cold war, empire building has done much damage to the people of the land. So many voices crying in the wilderness, need to unite on worker ownership type stuff.

To deal with this paradox between modern day republicans and the teachings of Jesus, the repubs have come up with prosperity Christianity. Just pray and tithe and great wealth will be yours. That's what they say, anyway. They've added greed to the religion.
