He's hopeful a private agency or another government will step up to run the county's animal shelters in Bellevue and Kent. But a logical candidate, the Seattle Humane Society, says it can't and won't do it.

Maybe the so called Seattle Humane Society should change its name to Inhumane Society. This kind of "stuff" is criminal! These poor animals cannot help their situation and they need someone to make things better. Thanks Terry

Mr. Triplet needs to find something else to cut from King County's budget. Not the care of innocent animals who are already in a bad position.

I know it may be hard to phantom the reality that these animals are not Loved but they are not only by us but by their maker also God has a plan for all his or her animals..someone somewhere will be adopting this very minute lets just hope they adopt for a healthy reason.

I never put much faith into PETA..Humane Society..They are in it more for themselves and their own profit than for the animals..And I agree with Chaz..the condition of these places are never suitable at all for the animals..

Its a shame..People who are so irresponsible with animals in the first place are to blame for this..The laws on abandonment of any animal should be tougher..And then some wonder why some places are so strict about adopting animals out..They are trying to screen pet owners better..and that is a good thing..

Very sad situation..and no simple easy answer to it..
Thanks Terry..

how ridiculous to ask a private charity to shoulder that county's burden. police, fire, and animal control are non-negotiable. the reason animal control is on the chopping block, and police and fire are not, is that one saves expendable animals and the others save humans.

Microchipping animals for permanent ID helps a little to prevent abandons; the previous owner can be found. A deduction from annual licensing could be given if a dog or cat were chipped, and another deduction if it were spayed/neutered... The HSUS or the AKC could be in charge of a national registry for all dogs and cats (pedigree or no), like the Ag Ministry does here (registry managed by the Kennel Club and Cat Club) Chipping is done by the vets only, and the cost of the chip is minimal and included in the vet fee, which is relatively reasonable (request by the Ag Min to encourage ID.)

We all must put our thoughts together and pray that these animals will have a someone come into the establishment and Run it well, Miracles come in small packages..if we promote negative that nothing will come then it won't but knowing it will come this shelter will prosper the connection in time.

This is criminal. I have forwarded the link to the No Kill Advocacy Center. They are probably aware of it, but this would be the perfect opportunity for no-kill people to step in and take it over.

These people are morons. :(
