When are we going to stop releasing violent criminals while keeping people in prison for smoking marijuana? We need a federal law for truth in sentencing - all sentencing, including state and local - so that these violent offenders don't ever get back out. I have to wonder if violent criminals get released earlier for sex crimes against women? Yikes!

oh get off the pot crap, this has all to do with a incompetent police force/probation officers not ensuring the safety of the public. They had tips, they never even investigated. furthermore they should have made sure that this individual never had access to minors such as the 2 girls he fathered with the poor victim. The picture of the story is a bit misleading i thought it was of garrado at first, not a retired police officer.

Actually, the pot issue is very relevant. Drug crimes carry such draconian mandatory sentences that actual violent criminals are released early due to prison overcrowding due to stupid marijuana laws.
