Mesquite Seed Pods Can Be Ground Into a Flour

Each summer, Dana Helfer of Tucson, Ariz., collects the long, yellowish string-bean-like pods produced by mesquite trees on her property and around her neighborhood. And each fall, she has the sweet-tasting pods ground into flour.

We've been putting ours in the alley for the birds to have; I'd never heard of anyone baking with them before. The recipe in the article sounds like how I mix flours when using soy flour and flax along with wheat and rye. I wonder where she gets them ground . . . . .

This is a brilliant story - and also a description of the only way forward. We are constantly being brainwashed to accept more and more plastic/garbage "food" from the System. Crapitalism is what I call this System: capital/wealth for the stinking rich - crap for the rest of us. They want us to accept poisoned, toxic 'food' from factory "farms" where animals are tortured, drugged and kept in animal versions of concentration camps. They want us to eat fake/synthetic 'food' substitutes instead of healthy, organic, natural foods created by Nature on Mother Earth. Instead, brilliant people like Dana Helfer are re/connecting to the Old Ways and bringing those tried-and-true ways into the present - and helping to bring the possibility of a livable, sustainable future. Bless you Dana - you are outstanding!

I have only managed to wade through about 30 of about 24,900 GOOGLE results for "Mesquite recipes" so far, most of which have been a "use as a seasoning" type of recipe, but I have posted 2 "recipes" in "shares", both are entitled "re. "Mesquite Seed Pods Can Be Ground Into a Flour" Care2 article..." and dated "Oct 13, 2009" one (GOJI SUNFLOWER MESQUITE ENERGY BARS) is in the "Cakes Category" and the other (CLASSIC BUTTER PASTRY) is in the "Pastries Category" - both recipes are gluten free, one is vegan and the other is either vegan or vegetarian :)
