Wow, Raquel Rolnik an UN official on humanitarian grounds is going to visit the US and inspect a S. Dakotan Indian reservation. That is significant. If indeed she finds abuses, neglect and humanitarian issues, I hope she brings them out to the international forefront. Shame on us.

I do like the fact from another article that Obama on Nov.5 is inviting a representative of each Indian tribe to discuss their concerns. Good Job!

My maternal grandmother was full blood Cherokee, my grandfather 1/4. I remember as a kid visiting relatives on reservations and though I was young still retained some of the horrid conditions. It was also my first introduction to an outhouse.

They need to do a lot more for them now . Just like Gorilly Girl news some of the eldely people had already gotten a big snow storm by the time some people got there they were bruning there bare needs to stay warm. I know last year it was really bad and it looks like its going to happen again not unless they can get wood and lots of things they need for the winter also for there animals too. Thanks Terry

About time! And while they are there they might think about Peltier and what drove him. Then let him free. Enough!

I have been to a few other reservations in SD and it is beyond heartbreaking. I have not been to Pine Ridge but I am sure it will happen for me at the right time. Time for healing is long overdue....
