There is no one protecting us anymore....each month new outbreaks of some tainted food. I'd say don't eat meat but then the vegetables are making people sick as well. One shouldn't have to worry about a death sentence with each mouthful they take.
Thanks for posting this important news information as many States were involved.

Ground meat is the major source of these types of contaminated meat. When the meat is ground it opens the surface of the meat to the bacteria. Ground meat has far more surface area. The longer the ground meat is left uncovered/unsealed the greater the chance of contamination. A very simple way to greatly reduce the chances of contamination is to grind the meat yourself at home just before cooking. By grinding it yourself you will greatly reduce the chances of contamination and you will be able to control the quality of the ground meat, less fat. Whether the meat grinder you select is hand crank or electric, make sure it is stainless steel and completely disassembles for cleaning. Immediately prior to use you should give your grinder a boiling water bath even though it was cleaned after the last use. Contamination can occur just sitting on the shelf. It will be slightly more expensive, but that minor cost is more than out weighed by the increase in safety and the higher quality you gain by grinding your own meat at home.

RALPH IS RIGHT....! IT MUST BE QUICK FROZEN AND....K E E P IT AT NO LESS THAN ZERO ALL THE TIMEIF PLACED IN FREZER....BUY YOUR MEAT LAST AT THE MARKET AND GO RIGHT HOME ..DO NOT STOP FOR A BEER, GAS OR ANYTHING ELSE. PROCESS IT FIRST WHEN YOU GET HOME....WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER YOU OPEN THE MEAT CONTAINER AND BEFORE YOU TOUCH IT..!!! PLACE IT IN A CLEAN CONTAINER AND SUCH AS A FOOD SAVER TYPE WHICH REMOVES MOST OF THE AIR...DATE THE CONTAIN WITH DATE PUCHASED AND USE IT BEFORE SEVEN DAYS--POST THAT DATE ON CONTAINER AS A REMINDER.

N O T E !!!

FREEZE MUST REMAIN AT (0)DEGREES OR LOWER....REFRIGERATION TEMP. SHOULD BE NO HIGHER THAN 40 DEGRESS FOR THE DURATION OF THE MEAT IN IT... KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED.

AFTER PROCESSING E A C H KIND OF MEAT THIS SAME WAY...WASHING HAND AFTER EACH BATCH AND FOR EACH KIND OF MEAT...E.E., BEEF, CHICKEN, FISH, TURKEY ETC.

TREAT ALL YOUR VEGS THE SAME WAY AND YOUR WILL PREVENT SELF CONTAINATIONS OF FOODS.

LASTLY, I WAS ALL KITCHEN WARE IN WATER AT LEAST 160 DEGREES...CK TO SEE IF YOUR HOT WATER SYSTEM IS SET HIGH ENOUGH...BETTER TO PAY A FEW PENNYS A MONTH THAN GET SICK REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE POWER CO AND PLUMBERS SAY....

P.S...WE USE A SOLUTION OF CLOX AND HOT WATER TO WASH DOWN THE COUNTER AND PUT CLOX IN DISH WASHER NOW THAT THE FLUE SEASON IS REALLY A PROBLEM...WE DO THIS ALL YEAR...WASH DOOR KNOBS ETC WITH CLOX AND WATER ..AND ALSO YOU YOUR BATHERS AND AFTER GOING TO REST ROOM...ETC.

CHEERS HAVE FUN!!

It is in my opinion that all of this would stop if people just stopped eating animal protein, period.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but look at what nature is telling us?

Consider trying Vegetarian or Vegan diet and lets rid this Earth of these nasty diseases from us and for the animals.

Just a thought is all, not meant to offend of proselytize. I just care about you and the animals and the Earth of course.

Unfortunayely this is a problem we see all over the world, I believe we need better hygiene standards to stop this.

Cook hamburger thoroughly to 160 or higher and use a thermometer to confirm - not just color. It is not only meat that you can get this infection from. Many infections come from eating salad. E. coli can be easily spread by contaminated lettuce as it is usually not cooked. The CDC lists fresh apple cider as an especially common e. coli vehicle.

What is actually surprising is that we do not hear of these outbreaks more often. All meat is from an animal who was killed. Every one of them was terrified as they realised what was about to befall them. Guess what they did? E Coli is ALWAYS present in faeces. Copious hosing down at the abbatoir cannot really make this piece of defiled animal corpse into a nice clean thing to eat. So, cook your hamburger with it's faeces at 160 or higher!

Even with the deases and poeple dying from eating animal flesh. humans are so filled with lustful desire to eat the flesh of animals they do not care if they could get sick or die. they continue to feed this disgusting rotten flesh to thier childern and families and care more about thier greed and lust for meat than thier health.

it is time people start living compassionate lives, caring for the planet and not living just for greed and thier lustful desires.
