This is horrible. I can't understand how someone could do something this terrible to an innocent little boy. I hope the man goes to jail for the rest of his life.

Anthony was a fourth-grader at Lindbergh Elementary in Palisades Park, N.J. He loved skateboarding, and was ecstatic about getting a PlayStation system for Christmas.

Why did anything so senseless have to happen? Look at that sweet little face!

Of COURSE this is tragic. Of COURSE this is sad. Also, what is sad is what is not said. Of COURSE his killer should be sent to prison.

What people may not be able to understand is the triggers that are so pervasive in lower income communities. Yes, it is easy for someone living elsewhere to wonder why. When one sees public housing and becomes aware of the saturation of hopelessness, the constant noise, the feeling of being surrounded by people on who-knows-what kind of drugs, and the reality of being surrounded by severely depressed and mentally disturbed people -- it is not at all hard to understand. The appreciation and respect of the state of childhood is irrelevant in many ways in the Hood; that's just the way it is. I lived in the north Bronx for 22 years and, as a middle income person, was eventually able to "escape." Although my neighborhood had many wonderful qualities, just the sound of the ice cream trucks was loud and tuly maddening. As a college-educated person I tried for MANY years to get laws on the books to curb the noise. NYC has instituted some changes but many noise-related problems still exist. I personally have been blessed with a nervous temperment, so it is very unwise for me to be around children for very long, let alone children with all of the very loud and noisy toys/programs that accompany them. It was nice that the child's parents wanted the child to know his relatives, but perhaps those parents needed to exercise better judgment. I'm sorry for those who may be upset by my comments, but until people are willing to look at all factors involved we will just have a society with people walking around with blinders on.

I am appalled and sad that the life of this child was taken over a video game. I wonder what a child of this age was doing up at that hour of the morning and was left with someone who had displayed some "character flaws", and at the very least where was the supervision?

This is tragic.. it is not even safe to be a little child, ones innocence cannot keep them safe.. this is a sick and violent world that we live in... May God take vengenance upon this selfish act..

There must be something wrong with Morales, a 25 year old stabbing a 9 year old over a video game, maybe a learning disability or emotional problem.

What can we do? Nearly 70% of Black children in America are born to single mothers.

The answer is education, get the word out that staying in school and getting an education is the answer to the end of poverty.

We need to end double standards. How come if a black person is caught using drugs, they go to prison - yet if Rush Limbaugh gets caught abusing illegal drugs in my state, he gets off free?

I am considering running for office - I ask readers to consider doing something about racism. To begin with we should address Rush Limbaugh and his drug abuse.

How horrible ! I agree with Donna Englund ( above ) . Poverty, substance abuse and mental illness might have played some part in this sad story. And I'm sure similar things happen every day somewhere in the USA. But in the end , there's no one to really blame but the man who did the stabbing...
