People who do this sort of thing have so little respect for anyone else ; it's disgusting that people don't even consider how their behaviour affects others or worse , they don't care . It speaks to the greater accepted sense of apathy that's both saddening and destructive .

I live in a small town in Northern California - sadly, this happens here too! Also, we've had a rash of mail theft!

WELL PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN DESTROY SOMEONE PROPERTY. I GUESS A MAILBOX IS BETTER THAN AN ANIMAL AT LEAST IT IS A FEDERAL OFFENSE TO DESTROY MAILBOXES. JUST THE HOMEOWNER GETS STUCK WITH THE BILL UNLESS YOU GET FORTUNE AND CATCH THE PEOPLE BEING DESTRUCTIVE.

When I was a kid it was Knocky Nine Doors. A game where we tied string to the door knockers and hid behind people's fences and kept on pulling the string till someone came and answered the door. It was fun but aggrevating for the person wh had to come to the door.
Now it is destrcution that is the game. I believe it comes from having nothing to do and no place to go. We had many a YMCA where we could go almost very night of the week to play table tennis, dance, games etc., I see nothing like that for the kids now.

I guess these young men could not find anything constructive to do with their time, so they chose to be destructive instead. They should be forced to replace these mailboxes as well as do community service in their town. Maybe then they will learn to utilize their time in a better way.
