WHY is this celebration of Native American culture listed as "OFFBEAT NEWS"? This is a serious occasion and just as worthy of respect as a Beethoven Festival or a presentation of Shakespeare's plays. There should be a news category for CULTURAL EVENTS just as we have categories here for Sports, Science and Technology, Business and Politics. The stories and myths that were handed down by Native American storytellers are as precious as the Greco/Roman myths of Apollo, Zeus, Mars and Venus that we have to learn about in school. They show just as much imagination, drama, color and tradition as their European counterparts and as Literature, it is time that they received some recognition.

I agree, there is nothing offbeat about news of this amazing cultural celebration. When I lived in the prairies of Canada I attended and participated in many pow wows, ceremonies and other events that enriched my spiritual life like none other. I also wish I could attend this Festival.
