Thank you Lone. It is long overdue. I am still grieved deeply by the treatment of our Native American. There is so much we should have learned and still could learn if only the government and the people really see the tremendous value of our Native people.

We hope this legislature stands and these tribes get their long overdue recognition and all benefits due thereof. I believe that more than 50 tribes were wiped off the face of America in the past so it is good to hear that some of them are getting justice now.

The American tribes need all the help they can get and the cherokee nation are doing themselves a disservice if they oppose others from gaining their rights.

Thank you and noted Lone Wolf, didn't these people have to show proof of their Heritage? Like a family tree or something like that. If they were of Indian descent and Cherokee by that I think the Elders would have some sort of documents to prove they are or aren't! I get sick of people saying they are of Native Heritage where ever they come from just to get the aid of the Government. As far as one comment goes, if he wants everyone to be treated as equal he should start with himself and recognize the N/A tribes as the people who own the land in America and NOT the White people. They were in America first and are still seen as Savages by some Christians! THAT is wrong. The True Indian will know but the ones with 1/100th% of Indian blood in them or think they have it in them are squamming from the government. If he wants the Indians to be treated equal than they should get the same education and have the same rights as the Migrants. When going to school they can wear what their religion says they have to wear, or what their culture is in the country they come from. Yet the N/A children can't! If they go to school either having their hair done in the Native way then they get sent home and can't return until they are dressed or have their hair done like the White Man! Is that equality?????? Not to me, if the Migrants can dress as they dress in the country they come from then the N/A should be able to dress and have their hair done in their Tribe's way, instead of being sent home!!!!!

I've become more and more interested in the plight of the Natives, be it Americans or Australians or from where ever they come from. The Natives don't seem to have any rights at all and that is wrong in my mind anyway. If those people are truly Natives I'm really glad and happy for them and your Tribe Lone but if they're just trying to scamm of the Government then it's wrong. You're a Native, what do you think and believe? The N/A are the poorest in America and that's wrong in my mind! They haven't got the same rights and that is wrong. They have to live on Reserves which is totally wrong! Everything the White government does to your people is wrong in my mind. Alright you might be allowed to have Casinoes and sell cigarettes, but I'm sure there are Casinoes in the White man's areas, but that is something these people don't want to see, Are they willing to have a N/A family living with them under the same roof? I doubt it very much. Let him who hasn't sinned cast the first stone!!!!!

Both sides on this issue have valid points. On the one hand, many Cherokee and others who escaped into the mountains to avoid the removal west remained and continued to live in their own distinct communities, most of them small and hidden to avoid detection. On the other hand, there are those, lets face it, who would seek federal recognition that might not be deserved for monetary reasons. Issues like this one have cropped up before and will again. Sometimes those seeking recognition are perfectly entitled to it. But there have been times when that was not the case. One wishes to be just, but one must also be cautious.
