"The way the program to provide the poor with the bare minimum of daily nutrition has been handled is a metaphor for how the far right in the House is systematically trying to take down the federal government."

Of course, I would expect pseudo-Christian Carol (aka anti-Christ-ian Carol )to have that response. Carol can't handle the truth. Don't confuse her with the facts and the ugly truth about her party and the bags. Coming from a Faux News culty devotee...this article is short-wiring her circuitry.

I suppose it was a mental shortcut: Carol may have meant lies on the Repugs' part. As for the Repugs, they are terrible hypocrites: they pretend to be true Christians (as far as abortion and Creationism are concerned), but what they do is totally un-Christian.

It reminds me of the "ersatz" food served tot he internemtn camp residents in the WWII German war effort. We do not have the excuse that there is a war on or that there is a lack of funds to pay for nutrition for the poor.

These days the only way a Republican could be called a hypocrite is if they passed a homeless person and did not kick them in the face. This ugly attitude was evidenced by Romney and Ryan's ugly and insensitive attitude towards the most vulnerable in society in last years elections. The Republican party is now fighting a more deliberate battle against the poor. It is audacious, insensitive and ugly. Republicans have clearly decided that the War on the Poor is good politics. In the Social Darwinism they favor they have decided to make the poor poorer whilst the rich get richer, ignoring that society is at best three meals away from a revolution and it will be them hanging from the lampposts.

Agreed Louise! No rest until the Bags and the GOP are OUT! The extent of their patriotism is for flag-waving but beyond that, not so much! And their god is the Almighty Dollar.

GOP spammer. Get rid of this POS!!!

People in PA are talking about how the right is cutting funding to schools and building prisons with the money.

The nutty neo-cons are certain to provide a blank check for the bloated, incompetent, rapist military, rather than take care of the children. A bouquet of dried thistles to them.

Just part of the Tea Parties "small Government" lie. What it means is the richest get richer. And with these get people to work for low wages.

The GOP are only interested in the rich. They're soulless.

I dearly hope there is such a thing like karma. All the republicans are evil.

The Repug war on the poor, whether you believe it or not, is a grim reality. Now, their wealthy constituents want to slash Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. I, like so many other citizens, couldn't live without my Social Security, but that won't stop these monsters from slashing it, if they get their way. This nation has got to get wise and start voting out the Right Wing, the Tea Partiers, and Repugs in general. That includes turncoat Dems too. Until we clean house, we will sink lower and lower while the gap between the rich and the poor ever widens.

Birgit - I suspect that their dogma will be run over by their karma. Given that every time I see a Republican politician pontificate about the poor like some macabre Dickensian character I always think I just think there is the prime example of a Backpfeifengesicht.

Noted w/thanks, Roseann. I understand that when the S.N.A.P. checks are sent out next month, the amount people receive will be reduced....and this is right before the holidays. It was tough to stretch those incredibly few dollars already, but this will be a big blow to most recipients. It's incredibly mean & cruel for an entire party to protect corporate interests while constantly hurting those most in need. I have a son on "food stamps" who comes to eat here when his stamps run out. We've had to hold off on our own retirement because of the economy of the past 12 years. Is this what the GOP wants? It was certainly not the world imagined by my own dad, who was a WWII veteran. Although he's long passed, I'm sure he would denounce today's politicians for their supreme lack of interest in caring for their own constituents in lieu of bowing to thieving banksters, greedy CEO's and the wealthy who fill their campaign chests.

Secede from these bast*rds! People like Carol and Ted Cruz aren't going away or evolving. You were either born with compassion for all life or you weren't. I can't stand that I can't talk to my fox wad neighbor. No one should have to live with them but their own.

The Republicans are just puppets to the elite, (as are many Democrats). This is a class warfare! And, it's not just against the poor. The elite are targeting the middle class as well!

Thank-you for this in-depth article. It seems anything & everything (with the exception of Carol) has already been said...and very well said at that(Kudos, guys). We need to change this....VOTE.... we vote out the teabaggers & RWNJs in 2014 & 2016.(we have Alan Grayson instead of Alan West--Voting did that). We check state by state any "new" voting requirements ---register as many people as possible, make sure they get to the polls & VOTE. I didn't think we nave the time to "sit & see what happens". We need to be proactive or we die.

Limit the amount of money anyone or any corporation can give to $20 and all our problems and 80% of Republican officeholders will disappear.

Carol is one of the worse of them all. She picks out of the mass hate emails, every morning and posts them...like a reptilian.
