Now it seems police officers want to find ways to obstruct protests, and they will likely do so with Facebook's help. RT reports:

Now that Facebook is an ALEC member, I am not surprised. I don't post anything to FB anymore.

Avoid FB like the plague....

Just one more of the growing list of reasons to NOT have a Facebook account.

Besides, the protesters and subversives will just find other ways to communicate.

I don't have a FB account and never will and someone should smack Zuckerberg in the head just on General Principle.

Mark Zuckerberg is also using a large amount of the cash from his Facebook empire to fund campaigns PROMOTING the building of the Keystone Pipeline! From the article, the last line:
At this rate, with the NSA snooping through all our personal correspondence, and the police and social media in cahoots to eliminate the right to assemble, all that will be left of the First Amendment is a memento from the pre-Internet era. True words, and we'd better heed them before it's too late!

Facebook is also on the cutting edge with facial recognition software so we can be recognized where ever we are in the world including at protests.

I knew there was a reason why I wanted nothing to do with FB. Glad I stayed away. Never had it, never will.

It's outrageous! There can be no doubt...we really are living in a fascist police state.

Not on FB, never was either however, other places will become target too, just FB has the largest amount of people there so is the quickest way to get to the most citizens. Well people, some of us, but not enough of us have done what we could. The time may be drawing in sooner than expected when we be completely silenced as too many failed to see the writing on the wall. Too comfortable or not willing to rock the boat so they remain silent in hopes things will not get worse, but they are getting worse, they have been getting worse.

I recall those societies, reading about them, how one couldn't even talk to their own family members for fear of them, or that their children might turn them in. Sent to re-education camps or worse. When one looses what is hard won this is what happens. It isn't a joke, it isn't some abstract idea when people have been saying with the Patriot Act or with NDAA your rights are gone or when a Harvard Law Professor, Lawrence Lessig said, "Your Republic is no more."

No, there is no doubts in my mind Brian. The people I'm afraid have not moved fast enough. But the ones who knew what they were doing did. But I like Freya, our youthful one on here whose statement is so true, there will be others ways found to communicate. Remember in the 60's and 70's we didn't have the internet and we found out. But we also didn't have the advanced technology to be used against us either.

I do have a FB account and have had one for about 3 or 4 years. I don't do anything on it, but post petitions. I let causes of all sorts post on my wall. I imagine I will be locked up some day when all Americans lose their rights; but, oh well. I will continue using it for what it's good for and that's getting the word out to as many others as possible.

I would have to say that the best way to combat this may indeed to go to as many protests as possible. If everyone does then all of us will be on file. It's a bit harder to go up against everyone, and if one does get caught up in the mess then all of us will be outraged because we too are part of it.

Hmmm... not sure if that makes all the sense in the world once in writing.

But I'll be at the major Occupy event in London in a few days and I hope everyone else will be out where they are too.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November!

Thanks to Roseann for the "conformation" and Dandelion for the heads up.
This doesn't surprise me at all. I have already experienced going to a Peace Vigil (organized by Credo in a very "protester friendly" known area) that MAGICALLY was CANCELLED (overnight), AS NO ONE SHOWED UP. ALL my passionate ACTIVIST friends are on the computer ( FB ) 24/7, as most are. I am allergic to technology which is why I sat there for an hour alone. I have been hitting my head against the cement trying to figure out HOW THIS COULD EVEN OCCUR! This was in regards to declaring WAR on Syria, 2 days prior to President Obama's threat.
I've been waiting for Tuesday since first released and will GLADLY GO TO JAIL. I'm done! Jim I'm weeping too. WE ALL ARE.

I don't do FB, and I suppose they may have access to everyone's data, even if they aren't members. They just can't stalk me as efficiently. Thanks Roseann.
