Even our so-called leaders know that they can't change the system from within, so we need to look at the real problem: the system itself.

Noted- thank you Brain- we will need a true miracle to fight the likes of Billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and New Jersey Governor Christie.

Thank you, Camilla and Nyack. The pipelines must be blocked from further construction, even if it means putting people on the ground to literally blockade the project. In the meantime, we need to elect politicians that stand with the people in support of a clean world for our children and for the future.

Thanks for that vote of confidence, Z, but the article states that Colin Beavan is the Green Party candidate in Brooklyn’s 8th congressional district. So, you'll just have to wait until 2016 or later if you want him for President. Vote Green at the local, state, and Congressional levels. We'll change the system from the ground up until people are finally sufficiently fed up with our corporate government to actually think outside the two-party box and elect a Green president.

Wow, never a dull moment. I wish him lots of luck with the New York and New Jersey politicians. I'd hate to see a geyser of gas in NYC.

Good for him. Now if it will only rub off onto all of the other important people who can put a stop to it. Thanks Brian

What Colin needs is votes, luck has nothing to do with it. Will voters leave Party politics out of it and vote for the right candidate, the candidate that has genuine concerns about the future of our planets environment. The continued support of his voting public when he is unable to carry out miracles because his support in govt has been voted out and he hasn't changed the world in 6 months. The continued support of his voting public when he supports an unpopular piece of legislation because he believes it is the right decision.

We the voting public hold Colin's and all political candidates futures in our hands, it is our decisions and actions or lack thereof, that will determine the outcome of all elections. It is the responsibility and duty of every eligible voter to carefully consider who the best candidate is and then get out and cast his or her vote, at every opportunity. Every vote counts.

"Additionally, he supports repeal of the Haliburton bill which exempts energy companies from the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts." How and why do we allow Haliburton to get away with this? We must remain vigillant and active to protect what is important for our wellness and we can start by electing sincere and honest people like Colin Beavan.
